I wanted a quick dinner of something other than the same Morrocan fare hoping on finding a good meal but this place was not it (my hotel recommended it).
The restaurant is very nice, clean & comfortable, the service couldn’t be better, the prices fairly reasonable but the two dishes ordered were disappointing.
The Spanish croquettes were tiny & greasy (very) & nowhere close to what you would expect in any mid-range restaurant in Spain. These small-called croquettes were the size of a 25 cent piece.
I ordered the steak which came with potatoes & an assortment of vegetables. The vegetables were superb: perfectly cooked, varied & in a delicious garlic/oil marinade. I complimented the waiter for the vegetables.
The french fried potatoes were undercooked & flacid. Any European restaurant would be embarrassed to serve potatoes like the ones I was served. I hardly ate any.
The principal item, the steak was equally disappointing: perfectly cooked but very thin, a bit tough and with an excess chewy fat. The small bits of beef I managed to find were delicious; just very few. Don’t order the steak & ask that your fremch fried potatoes be cooked well.
I was so disappointed with the meal that I skipped desert or coffee. Got the bill, paid it (hesitatly) & left.
Casablanca is a huge city. I’m sure there are good restaurants in the city; just not this one.
Oh, the bread was quite good & the water...
Read moreYesterday (Friday 5th August) at around 2p.m, i went to Jose. As i was entering, 2 staff members were at the front. Didn’t want to let me in, were being condescending in the way they were treating me. I was prospecting and i’ve let them know from the start that i want to know what you guys serve cause i might come some other day. They didn’t greet me as a customer, they didn’t ask me what i was looking for, their only thing in mind was to escort me from the entrance (i think they did that because i wasn’t dressed properly, since i was just passing by and was just trying to discover bars in the area that i might go to) I will be honest i felt like i was profiled from the first sight of the staff in the entrance. Basically, poor educated staff and we are talking about the front face of Jose which is supposed to give a first good impression to any customer. After this experience, the last thing i would think of, is going back to...
Read moreCalled to check if it was open due to eid holiday, we were told yes without any mention of any restrictions, when we arrived, after spending taxi money because it is a little bit out of the way but always wanted to check it out, we are informed about restrictions that make a tapa bar not worth a visit, which is fine but the management obviously deployed deceptive marketing strategies to attract customers without full disclosure of restrictions or just really bad customer service. Either way Casa Jose lost a customer. Had they fully disclosed the restrictions and limitations we would've rescheduled for another day and not written them off our list of "go to" restaurants in the centre de ville. 1 star for lack of transparency and bad...
