Very good place, and incredibly popular when we went around 6pm Friday night. We ordered way to much food: the fried fish special platter (60 Dh, with tasty small white fish, lots of small shrimp, calamari rings, and other fish chunks), the beef (shank?) tajine (40 Dh, comes with fries with mayo), and the bayssera (mashed fava bean soup, 10 Dh and very good. Tastes like split pea soup.) The fried fish wasn't quite hot and fresh enough, and given the half life of deepfried things, not as good as it could have been. The beef tagine was solid, and the French bread and bean soup excellent. Came with tomato sauce, and there's water on the table. A good experience just to see all locals feasting with you, but I'd give the nudge to Restaurant Walili for the better price and, based only on our one experience, quality. The service was great. Pay up front after you finish. I'd try it again perhaps when they're not so busy to see if the fried food gets more...
Read moreMy dad grew up in meknes and spent his college years in tanger and every time we visit tanger he refuses to eat anywhere but here. We stood in the rain with one umbrella for half an hour to catch a cab that could take us there for our last night. My dad swears this is the best besarra in any moroccan restaurant and im inclined to believe him because hes got a specific palate. Also offers options for picky eaters like i was as a kid, great staff, offers outdoor dining and the food is always great. Ive been going since i was a kid and if i ever go to tanger on my own or with friends im putting them onto this place. (The waiters speak french, spanish and darija and some english, the menu is offered in english...

Recommended by our hotel as a great spot for authentic Moroccan food, Restaurant Bachir absolutely delivered. The menu was easy to follow, even for those just dipping their toes into the local cuisine (no couscous confusion here).
We went with a classic tagine and some fried seafood—both packed with flavor and a perfect intro to the region’s culinary magic. Service was quick and friendly, with just a hint of a language dance that added to the charm.
Prices were more than fair, especially considering the generous portions and tasty results. If you’re curious about Moroccan flavors without diving in headfirst, Bachir is a delicious...
