Horrible experience! Since I don’t eat meat I ordered a 4 formaggi which, according to the menu, contained 4 different cheeses (and nothing more). After eating half of my meal I discovered tiny pieces of something pink which had been hidden in the white sauce and I called over the waiter to ask what they were. Nobody in the staff speaks even rudimentary English (or Spanish) so communication is very difficult but it turned out the pieces were shredded turkey. After an arduous attempt at trying to explain to the waiter that it doesn’t say on the menu and I don’t want it he just leaves without doing anything and never comes back…
After that we decide to just leave and not pay for that specific dish. When we tell the manager at the cash register this he of course first doesn’t understand a word of what we are saying so we are forced to communicate through Google translate. He refuses to discount the dish saying that I shouldn’t have eaten so much of it if I didn’t want it, which is ridiculous since the pieces were tiny and inside the sauce. Finally, after some back and forth he accepted but was very angry and told me that “God will know” - insinuating that I was doing it to try to eat for free. I cannot believe the degree of unprofessionalism and rudeness of this place. Mistakes happen, but if I receive something different from what I ordered I expect the establishment to apologize and try to amend somehow, not just ignore or downplay the problem and call me immoral. This is the first time in my two weeks in Morocco where I have encountered such rude and impolite people. Such a shame in an otherwise...
Read moreI had heard so much about Caravaggio restaurant but never got to try it, mostly because it was always packed. Recently, though, I finally had the chance to visit a few times, and it was definitely worth the wait!
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to unwind. I dove into a variety of dishes, including their pistachio pizza, lasagna, and, of course, the famous Caravaggio plate. While everything was delicious, the seafood pasticcio and chicken pasticcio really stood out to me—they were just incredible!
The service was another highlight. Our waiter was friendly and genuinely helpful, making sure we felt taken care of. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly our food arrived, which was a nice bonus.
The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get, especially compared to other spots in Tangier. Plus, they accept debit cards, which is always a plus.
If you’re thinking about visiting, I highly recommend going later in the day to avoid the crowds. Overall, Caravaggio has quickly become one of my favorite places, and I can’t wait to go back and try even more...
Read moreWhile walking down the street off Avenue Mohammed V opposite the entrance to the Tanja Flandria, I saw an Italian restaurant named Carravagio that I remembered someone had told me was quite good. So I decided to try it.
Once inside I sat inside at a table near the front foor. The room was roughly square and had a very tall ceiling, and the wall opposite my table had a huge color mural of a canal in Venice. And above the kitchen counter high up was a smaller but impressive mural of Venice's St. Mark's Square.
The waiter brought me a menu and I saw among the items to order were pizzas, salads, lasagne and paninis so I ordered a chicken panini with extra crispy French fries.
I was pleased with the food and the service and ambiance, and I managed to chat informally with several customers, two young girls, who had fairly good English. And at Carravagio, everything...
