I wanted to try out the sushi in Tangier. Since I’ve arrived I’ve only had traditional Moroccan food so it was time to mix it up. Saw this place on Google Maps and the reviews looked decent. Arrived and the service was nice a young lady and gentlemen were very attentive. Now let’s get down to the food.
I ordered 2 salmon robata skewers, 4 pieces of salmon sashimi and a roll of crab with you guessed it salmon.. the skewers were tasty and served over a bowl of rice which was very plain. The rice was over cooked not mushy enough for sushi rice (missing rice vinegar) The sashimi was served over a seaweed salad which gave it a terrible after taste because the salad felt old and mushy perhaps not properly refrigerated, also the sashimi was sliced very thick (sashimi is classy and delicate and you pay for the flavor and freshness of the fish) chef has to work on those cuts. Now the crab roll was a decent portion but there were a few key things that are missing, the first piece I tried had crab meat and the other 4 pieces had salmon on salmon which was disappointing also the avocado in it was all smushed so much so that it looked like guacamole had been added to the roll. I didn’t want to cause a scene or tell the wait staff to assist me because they were quite busy pumping out take out orders. But the quality of the food could be better.
The reason why I’m writing this is because I’ve had the worst stomachache since I’ve arrived in Morocco and I believe the culprit was the salmon sashimi. I would give this restaurant a 2 star rating because I haven’t been able to get out of my room in over 18 hrs but the waitstaff were nice...
Read moreThe staff were kind and respectful. While the food took a while to arrive, it was fine overall. It was noisy outside, but inside felt more peaceful. The decor was nice, simple and not tiring to look at.
We ordered the Yaki Guy Cheese, Tuscan, Yakitori, and Poulet sweet and sour (Chicken sweet and sour) The cheese came out a bit dry and cold; it could’ve been cooked longer. The Tuscan was delicious and cooked perfectly. The Yakitori was sometimes dry or tough, though it tasted good. lastly, the Poulet sweet and sour, it was the most delicious chicken I have ever tasted! If I ever go back, I would undoubtedly order it again.
The Nakamura bento box was beautiful! The Vietnamese salad had corn, tuna, and a lot of lettuce. It came with another Yakitori (again, dry) and two hot, crispy fried shrimps that were excellent. The sushi rolls stood out for one thing: having more filling and less rice. Hopefully, other restaurants take note of that. We tried the Classique roll, which contained avocado, surimi, cucumber, lastly sesame seeds… and the Sesame roll which contained salmon, avocado, and sesame seeds. Both were nice but nothing too impressive.
One thing that bothered me was the large portions of rice in many dishes. It felt a bit unnecessary.
Overall, it’s worth checking out, but I don’t see myself going back soon, maybe next time I’ll try other dishes. Thanks for reading...
Read moreSTAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! We arrived around 9:30 PM, ordered our food, and were told it might take about 30 minutes because they had run out of salmon but it was on the way. We were fine with that—delays happen. But what’s not okay is waiting more than an hour and a half (we didn’t start eating until around 11:20 PM).
If a key ingredient is missing, the honest thing to do is tell the customer, “We’re out, please choose something else,” so we can decide whether to stay or leave. Don’t say it’ll be there “soon” and then make us wait forever. What makes it worse is that about 70% of our order didn’t even include salmon—those dishes could have been served while we waited, instead of making us sit hungry for over an hour and a half.
When we expressed our frustration, the staff didn’t care at all—in fact, they seemed to be making fun of us. The sushi, when it finally arrived, was bland and some of the worst we’ve ever eaten. And for this terrible service and mediocre food, the prices were far too high.
Places like this are completely overrated and need to be called out. Save your time, money, and patience—bad service, bad food, and way...
