Café Normandie — Restaurant in arrondissement de Tanger-Medina طنجة المدينة

Several years ago I ran into an old acquaintance, who had retired. He told me he liked to sit regularly at Café Normandie.

Recently I was in the area, and I decided to have a coffee there. Since there are no outside seats on the sidewalk. I walked inside and sat at a table near the main entrance. Café Normandie is located in a quiet part of the city, within walking distance of Iberia or Place de Koweit.

The polite waiter brought my coffee and a bottle of Aqua Noble water and presented the bill for 14 DH. Since I was reviewing the business for Google Maps, I took some pictures of the exterior, the inside front covered terrace and the larger main room and upstairs sitting area.

I was impressed with some old looking photos, a huge replica of the ship Normandie upstairs, various portholes that are incorporated into the café's decor and a ship steering wheel at the bottom of the stairs. The place definitely has a nautical atmosphere.

Despite my initial excitement about a dog-friendly restaurant, I was disappointed to find that the manager allowed dogs to sit on chairs, despite our concerns being brought to their attention. While I adore dogs, witnessing them perched on seats intended for human use was not only unhygienic but also off-putting. The discomfort was palpable among other diners, evident from their expressions of disgust. It's regrettable that such a charming concept is overshadowed by this oversight, ultimately detracting from what could have been an enjoyable...
