It would be easy to miss México - Café Restaurant Glacier - a café and snack restaurant in Tangier, Morocco at the corner of Rue Mexique and Rue Angleterre. To enter you must walk up some steps, and the thick glass and marble is reminiscent of Cappuccino, an upscale cafe and restaurant beyond Malabata.
An English friend living in Spain who just took a luxury apartment nearby took me to México for a coffee. Immediately I noticed that it is behind the Emsallah Tennis Club so it appears to have gardens with some large trees, making it unique in Tangier.
México is generally quiet inside, unless there are children running around and screaming loudly which unfortunately happened when I was there. A competent manager would have politely told the parents to make their children stop running around.
México is not a playground, it is a restaurant and café and you do not want loud noise and children running all over the place while eating.
I clearly told the waitress the specific coffee that I wanted, but what she brought was all wrong. I had to take it to the counter and have them make it again. I don't think she understood languages well.
Although I did not eat any food on my first visit, I was told the menu items are attractively presented and the pomme frites are hot and crispy.
This café-restaurant apparently gets busy in the early evening. Credit cards are not accepted. México is pleasant, but it’s actually more a snack place than a fancy restaurant.
The toilets are clean. Downstairs on a corner is an excellent patisserie and boulangerie...
Read moreI don't recommend this place at all , it was dirty tables were still not cleaned from previous customers, menu was very disgusting literally dirty couldn't hold in my hands it was completely ripped off and you can barely read things from it , as for the food I ordered a salad and a chicken wrap and a mojito Which was made with water and sugar and mint veryy very sweet that's taste just like sugar , as for the salad it was just a can of corn poured into the plate with a side mayonnaise and boiled eggs and potatoes felt like it was done ages ago , chicken wrap was oilyyyy and chicken was undercooked, fries were cold , not to forget the horrible service our waitress was very rude and wanted us to pay upfront the moment she put the food we simply just left a...
Read moreI primarily want to give props to the cooks here because they aren't shy about seasoning their food, unlike so many other places in this city. I agree that the service can be slow during busy hours, and a lot of families come here. But those issues haven't bothered me because I have a family of my own and we tend to eat at non-busy times. The restaurant is very modern and clean inside, and prices are quite reasonable. The waiter who has served us has been very friendly and patient, even though we can't speak Arabic very well. We've tried dine-in and carry-out numerous times for dinner, and the food has been consistently tasty. Thanks Mexico for not holding back on the salt and pepper (and other herbs...
