This place was a great find, and having dinner here made my day.
We selected a set menu for 95.00, which was equivalent to €9.50 at the time.
The beef with prunes and almonds was by far the best dish that I tried during my twin centre trip, and I would love to try this combination with lamb, or anyway they can make it, really... my main regret is that I now want to eat something that I haven't seen nearer to home 😢
The other regret is that I didn't write this review sooner. My trip was in September 2024, so near 6 months ago, and the details are no longer fresh in my mind. Unfortunately, I wanted to take my time to do a good and proper review (as deserved) and then life took over. I forgot.
What I can remember was that the portion sizes were substantial. My partner likes a large meal and his hanxiety rises if he thinks he is going to leave hungry. He was not disappointed here. He opted for the vegetable tagine with chicken.
We started with a tasty and nutritious Harira (Moroccan Soup) for me and the very fresh Moroccan Salad for my partner. Before these arrived, were were provided with bread and tasty dips.
The mains alone were enough to fill us, and we only had dessert because we had requested the set menu that includes them. However, we were not rushed to clear the table by staff, so we were able to take a small break, and we opted for light and healthy options such as slices of cinnamon dusted orange.
We washed it down with an additional order of mint tea, which was tasty, delicious, and as inexpensive as you would expect considering the food prices.
I don't recall whether or not alcohol was an option, or not, but who cares? You can find your way to a bar soon after, if that's what you really want.
SUMMARY: -There is a very reasonably priced range of set menus starting at less than £7 UK. If you are not familiar with the UK, I'll just say that you might just about get fish and chips or a burger for that price (* at a basic pub/takeaway not in London). -The food is delicious and filling. -The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. They are there when you need them, but not constantly hovering and in your face. -The setting is quiet, attractive and comfortable, and you aren't packed in like sardines. -I would go back if I ever found myself in this part of the...
Read moreSimply unbelievable. I wanted to write an unique 5 star review starting with: The best place I have eaten in Morocco so far. Seems, I am not unique with this feeling at all. We accidentally stubbled into this small restaurant in the old medina. Both the menu and the prices looked good - exactly at the time when we were hungry. Good timing - let 's try this one.
This small family restaurant brings homemade Moroccan food, traditional ambient and hospitality to the masterpiece level. The food is not just delicious and tasty - but the offered 3 course menu combinations would fill your stomach... for a price that would fit even for a budget travellers.
This was a real surprise. I am a gourmet, around the world traveller - have eaten good food earlier - and this place is a gem....
