KSOU Restaurant Rooftop — Restaurant in Essaouira

An absolute gem, and perhaps one of the best dinners of my entire life! Everything was absolutely perfect: the place is absolutely stunning, with an incredible sunset and view of the city walls; the decoration is tasteful, beautiful, cosy yet authentic; the service is beyond impeccable, with each waiter/waitress being delightful; the owner is always available to make sure everyone feels not only welcome but truly at home; and last but not least, the food… oh my, every bite was heavenly! We started with a mezze, a perfect aubergine caviar and delicious cheese from a nearby farm; followed by a couscous with khli (a local meat delicacy) for my friend and a lamb and almond stew for me. The meat falls off the bone, every bite bursts with flavour, and you’ll have a have a hard time resisting the urge to lick your plate. Keep in mind that everything is sourced locally, farm to table, and that all the vegetables come from the owners biodynamic farm. Add some truly beautiful live music, and that was the recipe for a perfect evening. Great rooftop vibe with live music – but cocktails could be better

This is a very nice restaurant with a lively atmosphere and a wide variety of dishes on the menu. We visited for an evening out and ordered non-alcoholic cocktails along with some shared snacks. Unfortunately, the drinks weren’t very well made—they mostly tasted like water, with very little flavor from the actual ingredients.

That said, the overall vibe of the place is fantastic. The rooftop setting is especially enjoyable during the summer months, making it one of the best spots in the city for a relaxed evening or a romantic dinner. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance to secure a spot on the rooftop, as it can get quite busy.

The live music was a great touch. The singer had a unique style and brought a different flavor to the evening. Some of the songs were really enjoyable and added to the romantic, laid-back atmosphere.

The guy inviting us in was nice and serviable. He made us want to go in and eat/ enjoy a show. So we did. However, the waiter was terrible at his job. He was mean from the start. Took him so long to bring the menus out. And so long to bring the food. And kept pretending to not ntoice us. We had " spicy potatoes ( side dish ), a salad( side dish ) , 2 simple drinks and dessert " for 300DHS. For the serving size and the quality, it was not worth it at all. The waiter ( Hamza ) was disgustingly terrible. Unprofessional. We asked for water, and he ignored us and didn't bring any. I needed to take my meds, so I asked again, and he said that he had stuff to do. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I HEARD, so I had to ask him again. I asked another waiter and he got us a glass of water.
