Le Palazzo was fully renovated in 2024 and is now one of the top choices in Essaouira. The location is perfect, close to the beach, fishing harbour and right outside one of the medina gates. Everywhere you will want to go is easily walkable. Being on the edge of the Medina also means its easy to find and just a short walk from the car park / taxi drop off.||I stayed in both a Deluxe Double and a Deluxe Suite and both rooms were stylish and very comfortable. The only thing missing from the rooms was a coffee maker or a kettle. The suite in particular had beautiful views of the city walls, clock tower and even the sea in the distance.||Service was friendly and the breakfast was pretty good, with fruit salad, yogurt, excellent fresh bread, Moroccan pancake and eggs to order, as well as fresh orange juice and good coffee.||Yes, there are steps up to the top floor and rooftop terrace, but these are manageable for most people (I am not young or fit). This is normal in almost all riads and traditional hotels. The roof terrace is a great place for a sunset drink.||Although the price was rather high (I booked last minute over the Eid holiday) I liked the hotel and would return...
Read moreWe booked two weeks stay together with my girlfriend at Palazzo Desdemona. We paid everything upfront but when we arrived we were shocked about the terrible customer service from the man behind the desk. ||||The receptionist was extremely disrespectful and refused us entry. While we are both from FInland the only excuse was that due to Moroccan norms they can´t let us in because we don´t have a marriage act. This was strange for us because we received a personal booking confirmation from Palazzo Desdemona and it didn´t say anything about a Marriage act or refusal to let us in.||||||On top of this, the receptionist was very rude to us and treated us like we have committed some kind of crime. He also refused to help us contact the manager and just stayed quiet. My girlfriend was crying and we had to leave while the receptionist refused to refund us more than 700eur of booking fees.||||We booked at a hotel in the old town, the service there was excellent and for two weeks a lovely woman cooked us breakfast and everybody was extremely nice.||||If you are a couple, avoid this place...
Read moreI recently spent 5 nights here with family and have only good things to say. The location is perfect- just a short walk from all the amenities but tucked away from the busy crowds of the main thoroughfare. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and super clean. Breakfast was delicious fresh fruit, crepes and omlettes. We also enjoyed the rooftop bar (one of the few places serving alcohol in the medina). Every single member of staff here is so friendly and will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cater to your needs. Thank you especially to Mohammed whose excellent recommendations made our time in Essaouira extra special. For me the experience was more luxurious than I expected for the price,...
