Money Scam — Terrible Management, But Great Food and Atmosphere

UPDATE: establishment lied in their response.

We visited this place as a family of 6, and first we were pleasingly impressed with food and atmosphere. However, the issue arises when we were paying in cash for a bill - very famous tourist SCAM we heard of but never expected to experience ourselves in a restaurant.

The bill was for MAD 2000+, we paid, and after that a waiter came back saying that we are 1000 MAD short. It was definitely not possible as two people counted it before paying + we knew exactly how much cash we had in the beginning as MAD is a closed currency. Anyways, we decided to add extra 1000 (not to make a big dead or if it and not to cause a scene) but with a note to a manager that his employer is taking money out of bills and doing this scam.

The manager was very rude, didn’t even try to hear us out and check what was going on, was gaslighting, raising voice, and had just overall terrible attitude. Of course after that we had to do something else.

They have a camera right near the cash register but manager refused to show it to us. We wanted to call a police but didn’t have local SIM cards - manager kept being very rude and just acted terribly, refusing any police involvement. He did give us an email to finish a conversation that day.

We now have an email chain with this establishment - they kept being rude and showed terrible customer service and then just stopped responding. That 1000 MAD issue could be easily resolved and we would forget it if manager was more customer focused. However, management reaction just shows that they are aware of this...

A great new fine dining restaurant in Fez. Id argue probably the best meal you will have in Fez at this time.

You have to walk a long ways up the stairs to get to the terrace. It is quite beautiful though, and clearly everyone wants to eat out there with a view of the mountains and city in the backdrop. They set a chill yet romantic vibe with their ambiance. The staff were more than accommodating, with fairly good English.

The fresh bread and butter were fantastic. Simple yet effective in how tasty it was.

The lemon soup was a treat! Creamy but bright and refreshing.

The lamb shank appetizer works great as an entrée, portion wise, with the delicious poached pear and onion fig sauce they have around the plate.

The seabream gravlax were good, but the texture was a touch rubbery. It was easily the weakest thing they served us.

The eggplant dish was fantastic! Smoky and super savory.

The rice pudding had a great crunchy texture that's not too hard and not too soft. The dessert pastilla is great, although it's more of a layered lasagna with Delicious amlou ice cream on top. Its nice to see some creativity in regards to the presentation of this meal.
