Food: Overall, tegine was good. I’ve had better in fes for cheaper.
Made the mistake of ordering different with the ginger and lemon drink which was difficult to drink but thankfully waiter took the feedback and added orange to it.
**My main issue was the pushback in such an expensive place (linked with a hotel also) of getting change or paying with card and the fact they took half of my change they gave back.
Given the price and the association with the hotel I asked for change with cash payment to give a tip but I had a lot of pushback. I asked to pay more on card after they pushed back for card payment then they stated they had no change at all. Eventually they offered to get change so that I can tip but also pay the rest on card.
When the manager/assistant manager brought the change back he handed half of my money and quickly left and decided how much I was going to tip (they TOOK 20-25% tip ). They took it, they did not ask they took it. **
I understand in fes cash generally best but I have had much better experiences in fes with paying with smaller, cheaper places having no issue with change or card.
I would not recommend this place due to poor value for money and the poor senior/manager staff member I experienced.
You can have a better experience it lots of other places in fes. For the price I would expect better service from managers, better food and better ways to pay.
I would not expect a place so expensive linked with a hotel to try tricks like stating they don’t have change, they can’t take card when I decided to pay extra for this meal. For the price I want a relaxing end to the meal not having to deal with payment issues at the end.
Our assigned waiter is the only reason it is not a 1 star. Worst of it was that it was the manager who took the tip not the...

Nestled near the iconic Blue Gate in the heart of the medina, the restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored traditional Moroccan palace. The ambiance is a feast for the senses, with a two-story dining room centered around a Moroccan water fountain and adorned with intricate tilework and vaulted ceilings, creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and intimate . The menu showcases authentic Fassi cuisine through thoughtfully curated set menus, priced at 200 MAD per person, which include a starter (like harira soup or Moroccan salads), a main course (such as couscous or tagine), seasonal fruit, cookies, and mint tea . Dishes like the harira and couscous are standout favorites, praised for their depth of flavor and authenticity, though some reviewers note the fruit and cookies could be improved . The service is attentive and warm, with staff often going the extra mile to ensure a memorable experience . For those eager to dive deeper into Moroccan culinary traditions, the restaurant also offers cooking classes led by expert chefs, where participants learn to prepare tagines, pastillas, and other regional specialties .
While the location can be tricky to navigate in the medina’s labyrinthine alleys, the restaurant provides clear directions and even offers to guide guests from nearby landmarks like Batha Square . While excited by vegan options on the menu and a good looking three course menu the service and food was a major letdown. The waiters were inattentive and showed very little grace in setting tables and bringing food out - just dump it all on the table. We ordered drinks with the meal that never came. The waiter was on the phone and taking photos near our table which was strange and unprofessional.
The soup entree was okay but nothing to write home about, tasted warmed up and not too fresh. The vegetarian pastilla was very bland, have had much better ones at other restaurants in Fes. To their credit the beef and caramelised tomato tajine was great, best of the food ordered.
Dessert really put the nail in the coffin when we were served whole fruit (banana, apple and orange) on plate and on a serving tray which was just plonked on the table. To not even cut fruit for the dessert on a 200dh set menu we find quite appalling, you could go buy this fruit yourself in the Medina for a few dh.
Overall a big let down. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful interior, although you should definitely come here to enjoy it, just know the service and food don’t match the look and the price is certainly...
