Thinking of eating here? Don't do it, go somewhere else. Worst place we had the (dis)pleasure of visiting in Morocco. The 5-star reviews are most likely bought with money spent by tourists who failed to do their research, like us.
We were beckoned in by the owner (red flag 1), waited 30! minutes for the waiter to take our order (red flag 2), then waited another HOUR for our food to arrive (red flag 3).
We thought okay, they're very busy (this was during Ramadan), if the food is good it can still be saved. No. Prices are high for what you get, tiny portions, tasteless, greasy and bland. Tajine with beef and prunes indeed had beef in it, but 60% of said beef was bone, accompanied by 2 measly prunes, all swimming in grease. We suspect the tajine with beef and vegetables was microwaved, parts of it were cold and parts were piping hot. Didn't finish either.
Ambiance is noisy, music comes from YouTube. With accompanying ads every few minutes.
We should've left after 10 minutes of waiting. No, we shouldn't even have entered. Waste of 120MAD, which could've been more, the boss tried to add additional stuff to the bill. The only star is for the waiter who prevented that from happening, and who was working his ass off while the boss was sitting in a corner 50/50 dividing his time between scrolling on his phone and literally...
Read moreI recently had dinner at Dar Larsa in Rabat, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. The restaurant is tucked away in the medina and beautifully decorated in traditional Moroccan style. The setting is cosy and elegant, with a peaceful atmosphere that adds to the charm.
The food was excellent, especially the tagine, which was the highlight of the meal. I ordered the lamb tagine with prunes and almonds, and it was incredibly tender, full of rich Moroccan spices, and beautifully presented. The balance of sweet and savoury flavours was perfect. The fresh Moroccan bread served alongside was great for soaking up the delicious sauce.
We also tried a selection of starters, including harira soup and a variety of Moroccan salads. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The portion sizes were generous, and the service was friendly and attentive. Our waiter explained the dishes and made helpful suggestions without being pushy.
Prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food, presentation, and the calm, authentic setting. It’s a lovely spot for anyone wanting to enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine in a relaxed environment.
I would definitely recommend Dar Larsa to visitors in Rabat looking for a delicious, authentic Moroccan...
Read moreThis was our worse experience in Rabat, so sad cause they turned grey what was being a great day. Stay away they are big scammers. They charged us prices totally different from what is in the menus, all made up. They also bring to the table plates we haven't order, lentils and other legumes we don't even like, we told them we haven't order those but tell us those were side dishes included in the fish we had ordered, so we accepted them even we didn't eat them. Guess what... they had also charge them in the bill!!! Also, the first thing we asked him before sitting down was if credit cards were accepted for payment as we were leaving to the airport and had no more cash, he told us they were accepting visas, which turn out a lie, had to run to an ATM and also payed commission's. So bad cause other owners were legal and told us only cash was accepted so we end up here... Please don't collaborate with this kind of locals, it was our only bad experience, there's a lot of good places and...
