16Cafe — Restaurant in Marrakesh Prefecture

I used to love this place. I could enjoy my food watching life on plaza going on, I could enjoy a glass of wine and light snack or food. Ok, I can survive that you resign to serve alkohol (but why actually?). But quality of service dropped and food as well. Once this place was always busy with people, both local and tourists now it is typical tourist-trap. By tourist-trap I mean place where the owner is oriented for non-returning customers. Rather high prices are kept from the past but unfortunately nothing more stays the same. Waste of time. Just turn it in something you know how to do: serve tajine or couscous - you have no idea about Western cuisine so don't try to fool people. People working here treating customers like the enemies - again - this is lack of understanding of simplest, basic rules of running bussines. Often this is not only that they are incompetent, they are actually rude and arrogant. This is a typical disease of places situated in touristic spots: they don't have to care about customers because some tourist will pass by anyway. I wouldn't write all of this if not that I just cannot believe how it is possible to buy place which was working very well and ruin it in such a short time. Bad service! Went to eat there this evening. Ordered two cola and some diner. Of the 9 possibilities to choose from, only four were available. Finally chose salmon for me and pasta with gambas for my wife. After 20 minutes the waiter came and told her there were no gambas. Instead my wife ordered salmon too. After 15 minutes one dish was served, but the other one was not delivered. My wife finished her diner and I told another waiter to bring me the bill. Even that was not possible and after five minutes I went to the counter, give me within 30 seconds my bill or else I will leave. A lot of excuses were given but far too late! Bad service! I went to KFC instead. I hope that they will learn to give a better service, because it is a nice...

Ive eaten here on 3 occasions: The first two occasions was a couple of years ago when I had the ravioli, which was absolutely sublime and the best version I had tried in Marrakech.

However, I went back a few months ago (before covid lockdown) and the same dish was not only more expensive than it already was before, but didn’t have the same taste and freshness. Also the portion they serve in the plate seemed to be less.

I don’t know if they changed the cook or the recipe (which some restaurants will do to cut back costs), but they need to go back to the old recipe and a larger portion to justify the increased cost of the meal.
