Not child-friendly – inappropriate tone – disappointing experience We visited Grand Café de la Poste with high expectations, ready to enjoy a special evening with good food and fine wine – including the most expensive Moroccan red wine on the menu. The food was decent, the service friendly but at times overwhelmed. However, what completely ruined the evening was the behavior of one of the hostesses, who approached our table and told us in a very rude and harsh tone that our 3.5-year-old daughter was not allowed to walk around the hallway – supposedly because it disturbed the service. Our daughter had followed her older sister outside a few times and briefly walked up and down the corridor, but she did not disturb anyone. Despite our calm response, the hostess showed no understanding and remained firm in her manner – even though other guests were far more disruptive: one drunken guest broke glassware and knocked over chairs and tables, which seemed to be tolerated without issue. No staff member made any attempt to handle the situation with tact or to make us feel welcome. In the end, we asked for the bill – even though we had not finished our wine and had not yet ordered dessert. Conclusion: Not a place for families with small children. A pity for the atmosphere – and for the evening.

Grand Café de la Poste is a historic and iconic establishment located in Marrakech, Morocco. Originally built in the 1920s, it exudes a blend of colonial and Moroccan architectural styles, offering a unique and charming atmosphere. The café serves as a popular gathering spot for both locals and tourists, providing a menu that features a mix of traditional Moroccan dishes and French cuisine. Its elegant interior, with vintage furnishings and a spacious terrace, makes it an ideal place to relax and enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee while soaking in the vibrant ambiance of Marrakech. Whether you're visiting for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Grand Café de la Poste offers a delightful experience reminiscent of a bygone era.💛 Visitors often remark on the warm and welcoming atmosphere, where the staff goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. The café's hospitable environment makes guests feel right at home, This sense of warmth and friendliness adds to the charm of the café, making it a beloved spot for those seeking both culinary delights and a genuine connection with the vibrant spirit of Marrakech.💛

Lovely atmosphere, friendly service and good food Perfect combination That was during the last 15 years, but unfortunately things change They have now some kind of weird called "updated policies" based on people profiling The security guy and the desk hostess might deny you access based on silly pretexts just because you're not a foreign tourist (even if the same conditions apply to someone else whom the access was granted only because they think of him as a €€ wallet) The management should do something about it or it's gonna ruin the 100 years reputation they built Latest update: hopefully the management took improved What's needed and now I'm back to my initial review and still in love with the place Thanks Eric

Very disappointed with the receptionist at the entrance of the cafe. She looked miserable, very unhelpful, when my husband and I were deciding on which table to choose, She clearly had an attitude. This was on Saturday the 30th March at around 6 pm. This particular member of staff was openly slagging off other customers to her colleagues, in Moroccan language which was loud enough for me to hear from where I was sitting. We were a group of 4 people from the UK, none of us was Muslim, we had ordered Wine, and beer, having a good catch up being mindful and respectful to the local people , by not sitting right outside opposite the pavement. Until a member of the management team quietly interrupted and asked me to show him my ID, His reason; was they have a policy not to serve alcohol to Moroccans. Yes, I was born in Morocco, I have a Moroccan sounding first name but I am British! Singling me out from my husband who is also British, and from my friends who are originally from Australia and South Africa respectively was very unexpected. I was also shellshocked but without questioning him, I showed this man my British passport then he repeated my Arabic name Amal!, then he saw European surname and sheepishly returned back my passport ID and went away. It’s disgraceful! If being a Moroccan by birth was an issue, that should have been highlighted before serving any alcohol at the table. Meeting our friends here, before a pre booked dinner at Sahbi-Sahbi restaurant was my idea. Our friends had invited us to visit them at the Royal Mansour initially but I felt the need to introduce them to the real Marrakesh, to my own detriment. My suggestion to the owner is to introduce inclusivity awareness and customer service skills training to these particular members of staff who managed to ruin a perfect Saturday evening gathering. In the meantime I will think twice before coming back to cafe...

I could give a 5 star review regarding the food quality, but I must say I had a very unpleasant experience with the restaurant manager. I arrived there around 15h00 (so clearly after the peak of the Lunch service) and I was with my wife and 3 kids. My kids already eaten before because obviously they couldn't wait until 15h00 to have lunch. The manager asked "Who's going to eat?" and when I told it would be just me and my wife, he mad such an unpleasant face and started mumbling about "Who's going to eat?". I do understand that if they had a full restaurant, we couldn't have asked for a table of 5, while only 2 would actually eat. But this was not the case. It as 15h00 and half the tables inside the restaurant were empty (even though the outdoor tables were all full). He said he would check something and he returned to said that we could go inside (as if he was doing us a big favor) and put us in the worst table of the restaurant, next to the kitchen, where all waiters are constantly coming and going with food and plates, and also very dark place. Not cool at all, taking into account that there were many other free tables in much nicer areas of the restaurant, and taking into account that after 15h00 there wouldn't be - for sure - a sudden avalanche of new customers who would need the 3 seats taken by my children who didn't eat anything there. I found this attitude very arrogant and shameful. The only reason I didn't turn my back is precisely because it was already 15h00 and there were no other available options nearby...

Got seated and was asked what we'd like, I mentioned our drinks and for the main course, spaghetti bolognese, was told they don't have that so opted for another spaghetti dish, the waiter said abruptly, "we don't have spaghetti!" I finally got steak, fries and asparagus. For each item of food and drink that got delivered, this waiter (guy by the way) walked past us with our food in his hand to serve other customers who were white, and then brought our food and drink to us. Didn't make sense at all. Whilst waiting for the main, to my shock I saw another customer (white) eating spaghetti opposite me. I had enough at this point and wanted to leave paying for the drink and fries which my partner had. I spoke to the manager/owner in charge. He gave me the meal for free and insisted that they weren't being discriminatory (very passionate). I had to really point out how it made me feel. We are 2 black customers and just felt the treatment here was weird by the one server. Everyone was calm, smiley and professional. This particular waiter serving us was rushing around, and not making sense with his way of serving, or being truthful about what items they had in the kitchen. He needs training on treating customers the same! Also the guy I was sitting next to who was white in colour that was giving suggestions was totally fine speaking with us, I heard him being asked if he was okay just because I was speaking to him.. Ridiculous and a shambles. Just something to bare in mind if you aren't from there or different in...
