I went with my parents for Christmas to have a nice vegan light dinner as I know the Lebanese cuisine very well after living in the Middle East for 7 years. We were welcomed to our table and the manager did not let me sit nor remove my jacket as he was in a rush for me to order standing without having time to read the menu properly. I order a few vegan options (hoummous, moutabal, spinach fatayer warak enab, taboule salad, and fattoush salad). I asked if they had any natural juices because the beer cost 70-80 DH and he said orange juice and lemonade. People were smoking shisha and cigarettes which was annoying to us and the restaurant was very dark and no music, no live show. Food came fast, too fast...hoummous and moutabal were very nice, but the rest was terrible. The fatayer wasn't homemade, it was frozen, taboule had way too much lemon and the bread was also bought somewhere else (they brought it with the plastic envelope) and they did not warm it at all. Orange juice was natural, but the lemonade was not (similar to seven up). Warak enab you could also tell it was not homemade and was extremely cold. Tasteless. Anyhow, so far the experience was ok until we ask for the bill. They charged us 200 DH for one orange juice and one horrible seven up lemonade!!!!! 20 euros!!!! The rest of the food was ok according to the menu, but the drinks he offered me were not on the menu, that´s when he decided to rip us off!! Coke, Sprite, Fanta was 50 DH each for example and Champagne (one glass) was 200 DH, how could one orange juice cost 100 DH and one lemonade 100 DH!!!?????? Morroco is full of orange trees and you can buy any orange juice for 15 DH!!! Did not make any sense to us!!! We complained and he said it was correct. We explained again and he said it was a Lebanese Restaurant. LOL as if that would give him the right to charge us 200 DH for two juices. Anyhow, he changed the bill three times until he reduced each drink to 60 DH each drink, still expensive, but in order to enjoy the rest of the night instead of complaining all night, we decided to pay and leave (500 DH total bill including the expensive drinks). As we walked out we saw the police and decided to tell them what just happened. Both agents were shocked when we told him about the drinks and called the Tourist Police immediately. We all went to the restaurant again with the officers but did not solve anything. We kindly ask them not to rip off tourist ever again. Police told us to file an official complaint but we did not spend our last day and on Christmas at the Police Office. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT and PLEASE DO ADVISE OTHER TOURIST it is a RIP...
Read moreA warm and friendly welcome from the hostess at the door. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, offering a wide variety of menu options and an extensive drinks list with high-quality champagnes and wines!
The menu is very diverse, and the dishes are excellent. Personally, it was a little too much food, but everything was of great quality. The price–quality ratio of the menu is also perfect.
The service, although not everyone spoke English, was very friendly and approachable! The shisha was excellent, with well-timed coal changes and attentive service.
From 10:00 p.m. onwards, there was live music throughout the evening, which was very enjoyable and created a wonderful atmosphere. The male singers in particular were outstanding.
A special thanks to Ibtisssam at the reception, who made the experience even more welcoming with her kindness.
I will definitely return thanks to the great atmosphere and the...
Read moreWe just left the Mandaloun Restaurant and felt compelled to write a review, because we think that this is a restaurant to be avoided. We ordered two salads, out of the four listed on the menu. Neither of the salads was available. So in the end, we had 2 Caesar salads and a $40 bottle of wine. The salads were just OK. (We have had better food in the Medina at very modest restaurants, where the bill was no more than $20.) The bill at the Mandaloun was $80. This is an overpriced restaurant, that from our perspective offers nothing to recommend it. It doesn't even have a good atmosphere. Learn by...
