As food enthusiasts, my partner and I were really looking forward to our dinner at MB. We had the Valentine menu (parmesan sablƩ, pastilla de pigeon, saint pierre rƓti, Ʃpaule d'agneau version Lham Mhamer and red fruits soup with ginger bread).
Overall the food quality was up to standards and the flavours worked well together. Some dishes might have needed more balance (for instance the saint Pierre's delicate flavour was overpowered by the strong parmesan cheese in the risotto).
Unfortunately for a fine dinning restaurant we felt it was a real shame to allow for smoking inside the dinning area. It negatively impacted our experience as the sense of smell is highly important while tasting delicate flavours, and it definitely was a big let down for us. It might be in the best interest of the restaurant to warn the customers and eventually place smoking and non smoking customers in separate areas.
Overall we still enjoyed our evening and the service was especially nice and welcoming. On top of that there was a live singer which created a pleasant atmosphere. However we were happy to leave the restaurant that had become...
Read moreStumbled into here because of hotel proximity and high rating on Google Maps. It's French cuisine with occasional twists. High prices by local standards, but not at all silly prices, given the high end quality of everything from the food, decor, attentiveness of staff and patron, to the wine. My starter of crispy prawn spring roll on aubergine caviar (think incredibly smoky, wonderful baba ganoush) with a little salad and a very light touch of saffron sauce was literally the best thing I've eaten in years. My companion had a marvellous crab starter and perfectly cooked veal with truffle gnocchi. There was a delicious palate cleanser drink and a while-you-wait tapenade with crisp little slices of bread thrown in at no extra charge. Two starters, two mains, a bottle of Moroccan blush wine and one of sparkling water, came to £90 (before tip), but food and service like this would have cost far, far more in Europe. A lovely, last night...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was so impressed after my first visit that I went back two days later. To be honest, Iām not particularly well-versed in French cuisine, but this place was truly exceptional. Each dish had a perfect balance of flavors, and the harmony with the sauces was outstanding.
We had the 190-dirham lunch set. There was also a 150-dirham option where you could choose two out of three courses (appetizer, main, and dessert), but since everything is delicious, Iād recommend going for the 190-dirham set.
Hereās what we tried: for appetizers, quinoa with octopus, salmon gravlax, and beef carpaccio; for mains, grilled beef, fish with cream sauce, and crab pasta; and for desserts, rum baba, panna cotta, and ice cream.
Hopefully, Iāll get to visit Marrakech again someday, and when I do, Iād love to dine here once more. Please be famous but within limits - so that it doesn't become difficult to make a reservation :)
