This was a very pleasant surprise in Namche. After many days of eating dal bhat and other generic mountain food from tea houses on the trekking route, I wanted something different by the time I got down to Namche. I saw signs for this place and figured it was worth a shot.

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. I’m not going to pretend this was nearly as good as the food I’ve eaten in Japan (or in big cities around the world for that matter) but considering it was 3400 meters altitude in the middle of the Himalayas, it was better than expected. Definitely good enough to satisfy a craving for Japanese.

The prices were a little on the high side, but getting ingredients for Japanese food to the mountains of Nepal isn’t cheap. So the prices were fair all things considered. Overall,...

Had an excellent lunch there with lots of japanese classics. Compliments to the chef. The only thing that really needs to be improved is the attentivity and the english abilities of the service staff, it was a hard fight and in the end i was unable to order any sake because the waiter couldnt answer my simple questions about it even after disappearing 3 times in the kitchen. Especially delicious infound the trout, inhadnt eaten fish in ages! But the sukiyaki was also very nostalgic and the kitsune udon was warming and a rich broth. This restaurant is a...

I am a Japanese person and I rate this place as authentic.

The tempura set was divine - the tempura sauce was ginger soy sauce based. The rice was proper Japanese rice and the pickles were delicious! The tempura was fried to the right consistency and texture. The complimentary green tea is Genmaicha and I found it rejuvenating. The lunch was a pleasant experience with good hospitality. I highly recommend anyone to take a stroll to Tomodachi, especially if you’re exhausted from trekking and all the same food you’ve been having the...

Sick of the food you eat while on trek? You gotta visit this restaurant when you're back in namche. You get free tea (no paying for hot drinks!) and reasonably priced authentic japanese food. It's even better than some of the other japanese Restaurants in Kathmandu. So good we came three times for the food. Miso soup - spot on Bento box - best value. Chicken and pork tonkatsu were delicious. Comes with potato croquettes that were amazing. We tried the okonomiyaki which was good too.
