This was a very pleasant surprise in Namche. After many days of eating dal bhat and other generic mountain food from tea houses on the trekking route, I wanted something different by the time I got down to Namche. I saw signs for this place and figured it was worth a shot.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. I’m not going to pretend this was nearly as good as the food I’ve eaten in Japan (or in big cities around the world for that matter) but considering it was 3400 meters altitude in the middle of the Himalayas, it was better than expected. Definitely good enough to satisfy a craving for Japanese.

The tempura set was divine - the tempura sauce was ginger soy sauce based. The rice was proper Japanese rice and the pickles were delicious! The tempura was fried to the right consistency and texture. The complimentary green tea is Genmaicha and I found it rejuvenating. The lunch was a pleasant experience with good hospitality.
