This is a hotel that I would never forget. It had the best rainshower in all of Nepal with every possible deluxe amenity and was beautiful, like an ancient palace, and right on the Patan Durbar Square. My room was on the 2nd floor and was enormous and everything was immaculately clean. I stayed here for several nights while traveling alone for 25 days through Nepal and it was a good place to unwind. Also, I commend the incredible room service -- it was utterly delicious and they have a VERY good cook here who makes amazing paneer curry dishes in particular and all around with a great variety. In January, it remained warm in my room. Also the beds and bedding were exceptional warm and comfortable and sometimes it was a touch hard to get up and go! ||And with being tired towards the end of a long trip, it was a lovely place to spend time. Very sweet service everywhere. And you can step outside right into Durbar Square, which is amazing. It's easily the absolute best hotel in Patan.||Only a few things to consider: the restaurant outside of the hotel is seedy and I found the people there to be aggressively pushy until they realized I would not buy panipuri from them. Also, they had a very awful dog. Most dogs in Nepal are really sweet but this one was poorly trained. This is certainly not the hotel's fault but if it were my hotel, I would try buying the restaurant from the man. ||The only other thing is do bring earplugs. This will sound crazy! But there are loud pigeons all over and they coo in the windows, so just know that. ||Otherwise, this is a complete dream of a hotel and you will feel like you have gone back in time, into a beautiful dream. So atmospheric! I recommend two nights for this city, maybe three, as it has a great deal to see -- but be careful of the motorcycles because they really pack the roads! There are some amazing off-the-beaten-path spots here, and also, I enjoyed the Zoo, which you can walk to in about ten minutes. It's a great place to wander around, just very crowded. This makes the hotel an oasis. I stayed in and enjoyed...
Read moreBeautiful place - Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Lalitpur - the old town. The staff are friendly, kind and accommodating - nothing is too much to ask for - booking taxis, help with normal travelling issues, recommendations. The rooms are secure - key card access that sounds if left open. Place feels very safe and doors are closed late evening but always someone on reception to help/answer. The area right outside - Durbar Square seems manic at first but lovely historical area. Hotel is quiet and a peaceful rest bite from the city. Rooms are well - presented and cleaned daily with bottled water and essential toiletries supplied. Water pressure/shower is excellent. Air conditioning works perfectly. Modern TV and Wifi quality excellent and consistent throughout. The breakfast was continental style, simple, well-stocked and fresh - coffee 10/10. Everything is reasonably priced compared the local restaurants/street food. The staff all seem genuinely happy to work here and we had lovely interactions with them all. Very...
Read moreEasily our favorite stay in our 15 day trip to Nepal and Bhutan. You must stay here. The highlights: the rooms were perfectly appointed and clean (and featured modern bathrooms even though it is a historic building!), the breakfast was lovely (and included craft coffees made by the kindest barista), the location could not be better (literally steps from “all the action” - we loved being able to stop back to our room to refresh midday / drop off souvenirs / use a nice bathroom), and the rooftop restaurant makes for the perfect night cap or quiet dinner! ||But the best part was the people. Seriously, the Ritz Carlton should take notes. We have never been so taken care of - the front desk manager seemingly never sleeps. He was always there and was always helping people. He booked us tours, made reservations at spas, suggested restaurants, and just generally was around to make sure we had everything taken care of. ||I would stay...
