D’s Beach Bar Grill — Restaurant in Île des Terres Basses

Had a pretty poor experience due to bad service. First the good points: tacos on special Taco Tuesday were $5 so each of us (4) had one. I ordered the margarita (also $5 according to special). The tacos themselves were 4/5 and marg. was very good. The issue was the server who seemed friendly but very spaced out. She forgot utensils. Also once the tacos came we asked if there was any salsa etc. and she offered sour creme, guac, and salsa which we said yes to. One of us had a large draft. The bill was insane. She tried to charge me $12 for my Margarita - when challenged she claimed we wanted a special one. Well I asked for the special deal margarita not some top shelf fancy thing. Totally tried to scam us. No one puts top shelf tequila into a margarita. Then the cost of the draft beer was $9. Seems crazy. The worst thing is she charged us like $2 for each taco condiment. Finally she took the margarita price back to $5 but wouldn't budge on the other up charges. If we had known the condiments were extra we still would have paid. The issue is when it's a surpise. The bar was not busy so it's not like she was overworked. I suggest whoever was working Tuesday Oct 15 get some customer service training. The bartender is genuinely lovely and brings great energy to the place, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the cocktails didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I tried to offer some constructive feedback, but it wasn’t received very well. That said, I understand it might not be entirely his fault perhaps the ingredients or products he’s given to work with aren’t the best. Still, being open to feedback is important, and I hope that improves with time.

I don’t take leaving a negative review lightly, and I always try to be fair in my feedback. Jake was lovely at first, but when I mentioned the cocktail, his attitude did shift, and I’m sorry if that came across the wrong way I was simply being honest about how we felt.

My new favorite spot on the island! The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed, with friendly staff and excellent food and drinks. I had the burger, which was well-seasoned, mouth-wateringly juicy, and came with delicious fries. My friend enjoyed the pineapple fried rice, which was served in an actual pineapple.🍍

We tried several drinks: the Aperol Spritz, Lime in Da Coco, and Rum Punch. Each was perfectly mixed—balanced and not too strong, which I appreciate. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we loved our experience here. When we returned, the owners remembered us, making us feel right at home.

This place is a must-visit! It’s not too loud or overcrowded, making it a perfect spot for families with a play area, volleyball court, picnic and lounge tables, and plenty of beach chairs for everyone to enjoy.
