Back to Black — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I'm always in this place for coffee, live near by the area and go in two to three times a week, staff are lovely and coffee is one of the best places in amsterdam, yesterday I went in and an older man was extremely rude to me, I work in this industry and can understand the pressure of hospitality but there was no need for this kind of behaviour, asked for a coffee and before I could ask for the second coffee he cut me off and continued to be rude, was having a bad day anyway and actually left the place in tears over this man, he made me feel very little and all I wanted was a coffee, really let me down as this place is my favourite place, ıl be going to the other back to black in future. All the girls and other staff are always so kind but this older Dutch man really upset...

They used to serve GREAT coffee, now it's very HIT or MISS. The main/old staff brews coffee (cappuccino in my case) perfectly. Just dark enough with the right amount of foam milk. New hires don't seem to be able to do this. They serve cappuccino's with way too much milk (85/15 balance). For a shop that's on the high end of pricing, I expect top quality all the time. It shouldn't depend on the barista. When I see the bad performers behind the counter, I now take a stroll to another shop.

Besides that... It's a roomy designed store with with lot's of seating space (inside and outside).Staff is friendly and acknowledge you. They play good music, but a bit too loud (can't have normal conversation or focus on...

No laptops at the weekend policy. We came here on Sunday and even if the place was almost empty I wasn't allowed to work on my laptop. I would understand if people would not have anywhere to sit but there were only two people sitting inside and rest was outside plus the place is fairly big.
