Bistro Bonjour — Restaurant in Amsterdam

A true find! Ordered the 3-course, prix-fixe menu described outside. You have to ask for it specifically once seated. Had the artichokes and mushrooms appetizer baked with a small amount of mozzarella that did NOT overwhelm the taste of the vegetables. My main course was the salmon surrounded by very fresh vegetables. Dessert included; could choose from dame blanche, chocolate mousse, crème brûlée or tiramisu. Everything was delicious, excellent and very carefully prepared. The salmon was baked until it had a light brown crust but was cooked on a bed of very fresh zucchini, keeping the salmon delicious and moist. I’m going to try that at home. Lots of vegetarian dishes, cooked perfectly, not just a lumpy after thought. I left at about 7 PM to get to the ballet, about 5 minutes away. Place was packed with people who were very clearly local, so this bistro is clearly - & deservedly - well-known. It is a cozy, warm restaurant. The bread delivered to the table is crispy and tasty. The butter served with it is full of garlic - yum! We started with the French onion soup. The broth had plenty of flavor and the soup was nice and very hot (thank you!). I could have used more of the tasty little croutons that was on top of the soup. I went with the farmers salad which was full of crispy cucumbers, tomatoes, salty feta, black olives, and some greens. A very fresh and flavorful salad. The bruschetta was also full of garlic, olive oil, and basil flavor. And I like the crispy toasts. The shrimp entree was large and delicious. The shrimp were tender and had so much garlic and butter. Bad experience during Restaurant week. There were no vegetarian options on the menu. We ordered at 19:30. They forgot to bring the wine , for which we had to ask twice. Then the starters arrived after 40 minutes. At 20:50 still no sign of our main dish. We had to ask three times to the waitress if she could check about our food in the kitchen. In the end our food arrived at 21:00, it’s not possible to wait 1h and a half for the food without even communicating this in advance and not even caring to apologise! Not to mention that the order was all wrong! At that point we were so tired and angry that we did not want to wait again for the dessert.
