Cafe Krom is an original Dutch pub. In Dutch, they call this a type of cafe "Brown cafe." Why? First, it literally has to do with the interior color: the pub is dark brown. The bar is made of dark brown wood, and it is dark inside the cafe because there is little lighting. If you imagine such a pub, you might also imagine some clouds of smoke. This brings us to the second explanation of the term "brown." You are now no longer allowed to smoke in bars, but of course, this was allowed in the past.
