BUFFET van Odette — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Our night at the restaurant was pretty disappointing, mainly because of how rude and unhelpful the service was. We had booked a table earlier in the day, but when we got there in the evening, things went downhill fast. As soon as we walked in, this older lady, who seemed to be in charge, gave us attitude like, "What's going on here?" while another staff member was checking reservations. Then she tried to stick us in the back, away from everything. The younger waiters were nice enough, but this lady just kept on being rude. She made snarky comments, like suggesting one of us move to a different seat in a really demanding way. And she repeatedly questioned if we had ordered our drinks, looking annoyed when we were taking pictures to capture our evening.

To make matters worse, even after we'd ordered our drinks, food, and specifically asked for still water, she came and put a bottle of sparkling water on the table without saying anything. And then charge us for it, even after we pointed it out to her.

On top of all that, the food wasn't great either. Some of it was cold, and instead of ravioli with porcini mushrooms they served ravioli with peas, which wasn't tasty at all!

The food was ok but not special and the rude service left us unable to recommend this place. The restaurant is small and busy, but that doesn't mean it's okay to be mean. When we got there for our reservation (it was not busy yet), I asked the lady to show us our table nicely, but she told us to wait for someone else in a not very nice way. Later, the same lady told us to leave our table because the next customers were there. We didn't mean to stay long; it was just because they made a mistake with our bill. She was really rude asking us to move and wait by the bar. But when she served other people, she was friendly and smiling. This inconsistent behavior struck me as unprofessional, leaving me puzzled as to why she displayed two different attitudes towards us and others. WAIT TO BE SEATED! I have been waiting, waiting for 12' standing at the entrance door, restaurant and terrace were not full nor there were guests in line in front of me. Odette, the bar man, the waitresses ( except one that greeted me ) no-one acknowledged me instead they looked, looked away, looked back and looked away again and continued with their doings. Not a good feeling at all so after 12' of being completely ignored, I walked away and met my friends somewhere else, likely there is a bunch of restaurants minutes away to choose from.
