The good location and good breakfast in this hotel don't compensate for the atrocious customer service, our holidays were ruined by the hotel's rude and unfriendly front desk personnel, some of them, quite frankly racist attitude. Following the rules and regulations imposed by the hotel, we promptly requested within the stipulated time-frame (before 11 AM) for our room to be cleaned, however, when we arrived back from the city at late hours in the afternoon or night, the clean the room sign was still hanging in our room, no cleaning service provided. The first time it happened, we were willing to believe it was a glitch, and kindly requested cleaning service again, unfortunately this happened again and then again and again 3 times during our 9 days stay, when we naturally got frustrated and wanted to complain at the front desk, we were badly chastised and reprimanded by the rude young Caucasian looking 'employees' who aggressively demanded us to lower the tone of our voice, we never saw the same treatment to other guest with different lighter color of skin, I guess the amount of melatonin our ancestors were exposed in the past dictate the way the people at this hotel treat its paying customers. Lighter skin = your money is good, you are a customer; not so light skin = we take your money but we will treat you as delinquents who are invading our sacred space. We will never stay in this hotel again, we will happy bring our business to other equally well located hotels who know how to treat people by the content of their character and not the color...
Read moreMy fiancé and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Leonardo Boutique Hotel. I have stayed at this hotel before. The staff is generally friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for those who want to explore the museum area--it is a five-minute walk to the museumplein and just a bit further to the Heineken Brewery. The Holland Casino and the Hard Rock Cafe (for those who want the tourist experience) are right across the street.
The room we were in was lovely and spacious and we appreciated that the queen bed was a true queen and not two twin beds pushed together. I was disappointed that there is no longer a sit-down bar in the hotel with a bartender on staff. In addition, we were frustrated with the shower in our room in that it flooded the bathroom floor whenever we used it. The drain did not appear to be working well even with quick showers. If anyone has difficulty with steps, please be aware that there appears to be no handicapped entrance to the hotel. You must walk up about 7 steps to get to reception. And one of their two elevators was out of order while we were staying there.
Ultimately, though, I do recommend the Leonardo Boutique Hotel and would stay...

I wanted to like this hotel, especially with the excellent location. But the price absolutely does not match the value of the...
