Burger 'n Shake Oostpoort — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Shakes were good, the burgers weren't. And that's an understatement. Nowadays, we're spoiled for choice, with burger joints sprouting like wild mushrooms. So when you order a burger somewhere, you'd expect it to be nice, juicy and properly flavored. This one isn't. Instead, it was dry and boring, as if someone simply decided to chuck minced meat into a frying pan and let it sit there until the next coming of Christ. Even worse, they tried to compensate said dryness by adding absolute boatloads of sauce. Death by drowning, it should've been called. Of course all that sauce made the burger patty so slippery, it kept trying to escape the two buns that were desperately attempting to keep sweet Patty in their warm embrace. If I hadn’t eaten in three weeks and was on the brink of starvation, I still wouldn’t touch this burger again. The “meat” had the texture of a rubber flip-flop — dry, tasteless, and somehow sucking the last bit of joy (and moisture) out of my body. The bun disintegrated into dust with every bite, leaving me chewing sadness in slow motion.

To make things even worse, I had the privilege of sitting at a sticky picnic table splattered with bird droppings, which honestly might have had more flavor than the burger itself. The whole experience felt like a cruel social experiment in how low food standards can go before people give up entirely.

If you love yourself enough: Save yourself the money drama & trauma. Even instant noodles in cold water would be a better experience...

I often talk to friends, neighbours, clients, visitors about this mouthwatering burger bar; but after another delicious burger was enjoyed last night I realised it was high time I shared a review here. The burgers are made from actual meat (frighteningly difficult to find?!?) and the fries are made from actual potato. This is real food with great pairings - their sauces are SO good (must try: harissa mayo!) That’s without mentioning how lovely the people are who work here; their team is so kind, friendly, professional, organized and fun.
