Actually i would rather rate it 3.5 We had a very nice and friendly waitress, and the other staff also: kudo's Not a lot of staff who don't know what they are doing, but just enough and professional. I like that. About the food. I had the risotto and lamb shank and cheeses from Kef to finish it off. This was all very nice. The langoustine tasted just fine and the chorizo provided that lovely crunch. The lamb maybe could have been cooked just a little more, and a little more gravy would have been nice. I loved the Welsh union cake. The croutons had a taste to it i couldn't identify, so i asked the waitress, but she forgot to ask in the kitchen. That can happen, especially when a little short staffed. Also asked my colleague who had the same dish and he had the same question. Maybe it was just the sugar bread, but i suspect they added another flavor to it. It was nice though. The cheeses were very nice, but what do you expect, Kef has a reputation to maintain. They were a little cold though, I'm picky about my cheese, i know. And for me a little more "exotic" would have been nice. But I prefer quality, and that's what you get. Wine wise, well I started with a Weize 0.0 (that's a beer, i know) this was to sweet to my tasting, so i had hoped for a non alcohol wine. They didn't have any. That's a missed opportunity. I switched to normal wine, only had 2 glasses, 1 white, 1 red. And these were fine. But if we can accommodate for vegans and allergies, that should be considered to IMHO. Last but not least, the building. I used to pass it every day walking to the station going to school and always wanted to see it from the inside. It didn't disappoint. Great to keep such striking architecture "alive". PS, the parking arrangement\facilities was very good. We shared a car and split the bill, that way even parking in Amsterdam...
Read moreI leave a review for Club Dauphine in the back of the restaurant. First of all I am a fan and have gone many many times. What is becoming borderline unbearable are the price increases in the span of one year. Last night, table of 4, we spent 120 euro per person (!). Excluding drinks after dinner. That used to be some 105 per person previous years. Which was high but worth it given the entertainment. We drunk 8 glasses of wine and 2 glasses of beer. Not too crazy for 4 persons, and similar as other years. Actually went back to my bill today and noted as an example 15 euro for the bread. I would think that should all be in the dinner Dauphine. But in any case 15 euro for 4 minuscule pieces of bread with way too little butter (always a struggle to divide over 4 people) starts feeling bad. You start hitting the “this is annoying” level. Makes me want to say I don’t want the bread. Wanted to leave that with you as constructive criticism. I have noted we started going less because of the price, which is considered too high by many of our friends. Now, you don’t seem to suffer yet as the place was packed last night. And it was a good evening , started not so thrilling in the two first sets of music but the last set Rocked! But as any marketeer will tell you , there is a price point where people turn away. And it’ll be hard to come back from that. In my perspective you are slightly above that point. We’ll see how it goes from here , I sure wish you success because I LOVE the concept...
Read moreRestaurant is really large and the overall atmosphere is very cosy. The prices are on the higher side, though I’d say that you get your money’s worth. In our group everyone ordered something else and everyone was satisfied. The presentation and the taste of the dishes is on high level. Honestly this was the best salmon I’ve ever eaten. The wait time was also not that bad considering the half full restaurant. The service was a bit lacking since after we arrived there three people asked us about our drinks while we’ve been barely seated and later when it was time to pay no one seemed to be around. Although I consider this a minor thing and your experience may vary.
Overall I highly recommend...
