Cannibale Royale Rozengracht — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I made a reservation for today (13/12) a few days ago and chatted through the reservation chat about the possibility of bringing a cake to the restaurant since today would be my birthday. In addition to receiving confirmation of the booking by email, I also received a positive response about bringing my own cake as we would consume drinks and food from the restaurant and was just advised that I was allowed to bring my cake but would pay a fee of 2 € per person to provide plates and cutlery for the same, which I readily agreed.

Today when I arrived at the restaurant I was told that I would need to talk about the cake, because apparently they did not agree, and I was warned that I could only stay at the table for up to two hours, since it was reserved after this time.

The point is that I was not informed before the reservation had a time limit and the way I was informed I felt pressured to make quick requests to leave as soon as possible, which was super frustrating as I hoped to have a nice night Birthday with my friends, but it just didn't happen!

Anyway, it would be nice if you improved the information of the site and also the employees, because that way I would know before booking that you had limited time to stay in the restaurant. And the question of the cake was really unpleasant, since I asked before if I could take it and had the confirmation, but arriving at the restaurant simply were bothered by the...

The atmosphere and food is fantastic, no issue there, really recommend the food. The problem is service, everything was so good until end of dinner when we asked to split a bill. Waitress told us that she has no time, left the bill on our table and told To ask her colleagues. Then we met her second time and double check if she could help us or we should go to the bar to pay. She was very unhappy and that was clearly visible on her face and emotions. She said she doesn’t know how to do this. We politely explained that every restaurant does that plus we have to pay separately because this is a business dinner and we have to provide the bills(we shouldn’t have to explain our self, but still we politely explained). This is not a mission impossible. Anyways the waitress was like - “ok what are the amounts….” And after paying separately we even apologized even when we shouldn’t have, then the waitress said- I am so annoyed when people ask to split.. then we explained our self second time.. honestly I understand when you are busy and tired but this is not justifying bad customer service. This place is so eclectic and cool. The decorations are wild and visually engaging, and the ambiance matches. The neighborhood is vibrant and alive helping to add to the overall experience. The food is excellent and reasonably priced compared to many other spots (especially when taking into account the GIANT portions). Our server was fantastic. She was also working what appeared to be a 12+ person stag party and was managing them wonderfully while also keeping us happy too (I think she had a few more tables too!). I was very impressed with how cool, calm, and collected she was while having to chase after everyone's requests. She controlled the room with ease, confidence, and kindness. She made us feel like a priority even with all she had to look after! Truly blown away with her attitude and level of service!
