Fantastic canal tour that I 100% recommend to book when traveling to Amsterdam with your friends and family. Unlike other touristy canal cruises that you see around the city, what we really love the most about this tour was that you had a private boat away from the crowds, and you can really take in the cityscape at your own pace. We all thought that the hour of tour flew by so quickly when everything around you was so beautiful. I love that Paap cruised us around many beautiful canals and he was so knowledgeable to share as many local history and fun facts of the city.

We had a wonderful time on the canal tour with Rederij Paping! We had booked a small group tour but it ended up being a private tour for just my husband and I. Our skipper was friendly and personable - it felt like we were having a conversation with an old friend. He gave us a historical overview of the things we were seeing and answered all our questions and pointed out all sorts of restaurants, cafes and stores that we might want to visit. Because it ended up being a private tour, he offered to drop us off anywhere we wanted (within reason) at the end of the tour. We asked him for a recommendation for a restaurant for Pannenkoek and he dropped us off right at their doorstep. I capped off my one-week trip to Amsterdam by taking Paap's tour on a dreary and rainy day but under his covered boat we stayed completely warm and dry.
