Rude and unnervingly disrespectful service. A group of friends and I have been coming here several times a week for over a year, but today crossed a line that lost four long term and regular customers. All three of us bought 3 4.5 euro cakes and 3 coffees - 25 euros. We started talking but eventually settled down to read, then realised we shouldn’t take up space in the (2/3 empty) cafe and went to the corner to sit in designated laptop friendly window tables. After 10 minutes of reading the owner comes up and says ‘Girls, this is not a library’, as two more (30+ Dutch) people in the cafe sit doing the exact same thing we were - unbothered. I understand ‘gezelligheid’, but it’s Monday at 2pm and we were well within the rules and extremely nice to you. If you had informed us with even a pinch of human decency that you mind that people read books in your cafe, and kindly asked us to leave this would have been a wildly different review. I sincerely hope no one else gets treated this way in your cafe ever again. Gezellig is the last adjective that...
Read moreI used to love to come this place for its nice ambience and good food but as other reviewers have already pointed out, the service (particularly by the owner) leaves much to be desired. Today, I ordered a drink and a piece of cake, was then suspiciously eyed by him for an hour before being told that I had to leave since I had not ordered something in 1.5 hours. I can totally understand that it’s his business and that he wants to make a profit and thus doesn’t want students to just buy one drink and then stay all day. However, he can’t force people to order something if they are satisfied for the moment AND are not taking up space in an almost deserted cafe. His condescending and rude behavior today made me feel rather uncomfortable and unwelcome which is truly a pity given the otherwise lovely staff and overall quality of the cafe. If u prefer to be treated with respect and don’t want to feel forced to abide by some arbitrary rules, I recommend Studio K, which is right down the street...
Read moreI went there with my 2 daughters and sisters. The place looked cosy on the inside, we ordered some coffees and juice for the little ones plus some sandwiches and a soup. The girl working there was the only one and it took her ages to serve us. She was the only one working in there and that can be pretty tough for someone with a full place but having into account that all the people on the place were on their computers only drinking coffee, i would dare to say it took a bit too long for us to get what we ordered. After 40 minutes after ordering we got our food, the soup was very nice but kind of cold and the bread were actually a slice of bread with simple topping on top. Having into account of the simplicity of the food it really took way too long.
The girl working there was very sweet but she indeed needs a hand to help her or stop taking that chill...
