EL Turco Turkish Eatery — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Good food, great service!

I popped in here on Friday evening for a quick bite before meeting some friends for drinks, around 1930ish. They recently opened up on Rozengracht as their second location, so it was quite quiet in there.

I chose to have a lahmacun (turkish pizza) and ayran; as I waited, the staff were very friendly and open, so I had interesting conversations with them, but they weren't overly friendly or pushy. Interior is very modern (a bit too modern for my taste), but clean and organised.

The lahmacun was amazing. Rozengracht has a few Turkish options, and I'd say this lahmacun ranks quite high up there. Not quite as good as a place solely serving lahmacun, but leagues better than other takeaway/pick up spots. Fresh, tasty, punchy salad and sauces, thin and crispy dough - pretty good I'd say.

I don’t usually leave reviews for kebab places because, let’s be honest, most of them are pretty much the same — quick, convenient food. But this place really surprised me in the best way possible.

The meat was juicy and absolutely delicious — probably the best I’ve had so far. It came with a fresh and colorful salad: cucumber, lettuce, beetroot, carrot, onion, and tasty sauces that complemented everything perfectly.

On top of that, the guy who works there is genuinely friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.

We had four awesome courses, super delicious and fresh. The atmosphere of El Turco is amazing with great hospitality, and apparently it just opened. We totally recommend it and for sure will be back!
