Gewaeght Café — Restaurant in Amsterdam

The rudest and most ill-tempered woman I have ever seen in my life was here. My friends and I came, ordered the most expensive beer there, and had a conversation. One of my friends left, other friends arrived, and we all ordered drinks. Later, when my friends went to the restroom, this arrogant employee brought me the bill. Having spent a large part of my life in Germany and traveled through many cities, I have never encountered such a rude and disrespectful person before. I was truly shocked. She told me that we had only ordered two drinks, had been sitting there for two hours, and that this was not normal—when in reality, each of us had a drink, making it four in total.

When my friend finished her Aperol and went to the restroom, we were about to leave anyway. However, while my friend was still in the restroom, the employee insisted that I pay. I said I would wait, and when she asked why, I told her I didn’t have enough money with me—of course, I actually had 30 euros, as I’m on a European tour. In my shock, this was the only thing that came to mind. Because I have to wait my friends she said me pay now, we kept arguing, and I responded with laughter because she was a pathetic person. In the end, she even started touching me, clearly losing her temper at my sarcastic attitude. As I was leaving, she told me, “If you don’t have money, don’t travel,” and I laughed the hardest at that moment.

I absolutely do not recommend this place. I experienced something truly unique, something that will probably never happen again. Do not give your money to people like this. I would never...

Possibly the worst service I've ever experienced. We went in at 17.30 on Friday evening and ordered two beers. Was told they were out and the blonde lady serving suggested something else which was fine. I then asked if we could order some Bitterballen at which point she sighed and rolled her eyes. I asked if they were serving food to which she replied very annoyed 'its fine we can do it' she then slammed the (badly poured) beers down looked at her coworker and shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. I have no idea why she was so annoyed by me ordering something or why there were no manners at all. No smile no thank you just a general "why are you here attitude" the 2 stars are for the food and the decor....

We went to this café with friends to have some food and beer. I am a teetotaler – I never drink alcohol or use drugs. I only ordered a coffee. About 4–5 minutes after drinking the coffee, I experienced severe dizziness and weakness, lost consciousness for about 10 seconds, and collapsed on the floor.

Instead of helping me, the staff and the owner behaved arrogantly – they did not call an ambulance, did not offer me water, and simply said: “Eat something sweet and leave.” This was extremely dangerous and cruel behavior that could have ended very badly.
