Amsterdam’s version is more like “Chinatown Lite™”—a short stretch of street tucked right next to the Red Light District, which is either brilliant urban planning or just the city’s way of saying, “Sure, why not?”
Yes, there’s a higher concentration of Asian-themed restaurants, shops, and businesses, most run by actual Asians. It’s a solid place to get your dumpling or bubble tea fix when you’ve had enough cheese and stroopwafels. The sights, sounds, and smells will hit you all at once—think wok smoke, incense, and the faint whiff of a canal on a warm day. Sensory overload, guaranteed.
Like most of Amsterdam’s tourist-heavy zones, prices here are more “European capital” than “Asian bargain.” And yes, the city’s other favourite decorative element—trash—makes an appearance here too. It’s as if the streets are constantly auditioning for a gritty documentary.
