I found the Red Light Secrets museum in Amsterdam to be incredibly educational and enlightening. The recreated rooms and personal stories of sex workers really brought the realities of the profession to life. It was especially impactful to learn about the challenges they face and the importance of fair treatment. I also appreciated the section that compared sex work portrayals in media to the true experiences of sex workers. The exhibit I found most interesting was the bedroom. Seeing the items that would be in a room, how small it was, and how differently it felt from how sex work is often portrayed in media, really drove home the realism for me. This small detail made a big difference. I left the museum feeling more empathetic towards sex workers. It is easy to dismiss what they do for a living. Knowing that some of these women are victims of sex trafficking is disheartening. The Netherlands is doing their best to crack down on sex trafficking but there is always a way to slip through the cracks. This added a layer of complexity to the issue that I hadn't considered before.

definitely worth the visit, but expensive for the amount that you get to see. Upon entry you are given an handheld audio system, to which you hold up against audio points to listen to that segment. This is a great insight into the workers lives. It shows you examples of the rooms they use, including the “luxury rooms”. This is the only place you can actually take photos, as you are not allowed to take photos on the red light district. There are audio recordings of stories told by Amsterdam’s most famous working lady, Inga. Also getting to experience what it’s like to “be behind the window”. Well worth a trip. We turned up and paid tickets on the door, there was no queue (it was a Sunday when we went) but it is always recommended to book everything you go to in advance to avoid disappointment. Overall a really good museum to visit!

I left the museum with a better understanding of what Amsterdam’s sex workers go through, and I love their unashamed approach to legalizing and regulating safety for the ladies. It’s a bit of a small and squeezy museum but I love how you can get your tickets right at the door with no queue. The museum was very informative and pretty immersive. And I loved the Russian lady in the audio guide, her sense of humour is peak. The visit here took about an hour for me and I sometimes would backtrack to a previous room if a crowd of people is squeezing past. Overall, I really appreciate this museum because you can tell it’s really to educate the public on the lives of sex workers and it’s not a tourist bait. Worth a visit if you have the time!

The hotel is very nice looking and the staff was very kind and helpful. It was very suitable for business travel. The room had almost everything needed. Very comfortable Work desk with a number of electric sockets and Internet, plus a small bar and coffee machine right next to it. The Bedroom had a very big bed facing the river so the atmosphere was amazing. The room also included a super huge bathroom but most important it was very clean and organized. My towels were replaced daily and bed made. Hotel offers number of restaurant with different Style of food. Hotel is in walking distance to the RAI convention center but not close to the center or any public transportation. I would say that it's perfect for business peruses.

It was €14 euros to get in, I feel it's more in the higher price range then the other museum in the area it offered and insight into a working prostitute and how they work and service their customers. You have an audible which you can go round and listen to different sections in the museum! By what we found it was around 8/9 of them. There was a lot of reading on the wall offering more detail of facts and truths of being a prostitute in the city of Amsterdam. The fancy room was great but my fav was to try out the window yourself with the amusement of passers by having a look in. Ha I defo think they need more audible for the museum.. and don't let it get too busy because the museum itself is very tight walks around.

Amsterdam Museums - Episode 3: Red Light Secrets Museum Red Light Secrets 🔞 is Amsterdam’s Museum of Prostitution, located in a restored 17th-century brothel in the Red Light District. It provides an immersive exploration of the city's sex work history, including its legalization in 2000. Visitors can experience what it feels like to sit in a sex worker’s window, see the rooms where they work, and hear their personal stories. The museum aims to break taboos around prostitution through candid audio stories and interactive displays, such as the Confession Wall 📝, which showcases revealing confessions from visitors. 💸 €14.5 p.p. 📍Amsterdam Centrum 🔝 Follow us on Instagram for THE BEST things to do in Amsterdam!
