Le Pain Quotidien — Restaurant in Amsterdam

Rarely have I felt so badly received. There were 45 minutes left for them to close, but the looks intimidated us. We asked if they were closing, and they told us not yet. We sat at a table. There was only one more client. Well, it took about 15 minutes to come and see us (I don't want to imagine what happens when the place is full). The passion for pleasing the customer was non-existent, we ordered 4 things and they forgot two (and we were still with only two tables occupied) and so I could continue... At least the coffee and the pain au chocolat were good. In short, a place to avoid if you want to spend some time there. UPDATE: I gave them a second chance, and I went today there to have a lunch. I have to say that, despite was not perfect, it was much better than the last time. Staff was more friendly (we saw some smiles today), and they brought the menu even when we were not seated yet (quite fast), as well the order. And the food...

Went there a little before 12 today (Saturday) and unfortunately had a very bad experience. Only wanted two cappuccinos but had to wait around 15-20 minutes. A couple sitting next to us with the same order left after having to wait the same amount of time. Some people sitting outside had to come inside to order food, as no waiters was attending to them. Overall it all looked very disorganized.

I would understand if the restaurant had been full of people ordering lunch. However, it was not even half full and most people were just sipping coffee. Such a long wait for coffee during a non-busy time is laughable.

Could have been a bad day for the service, who knows.. All I know is we were not the only ones unpleased!

Delicious decaf oat milk flat white. To eat I had the vegan brunch which I shared with my daughter. So glad I did as it was massive! The smashed avocado on toast was my favourite bit and the hummus was also so deliciously creamy. My daughter loved the soya yogurt and the hibiscus croissant was incredible.

Only annoying thing was they gave us dairy butter to have with the bread which was a bit silly as it was supposed to be the vegan brunch. Unfortunately I didn't realise until after I'd given some to my daughter, luckily she doesn't have an allergy. I'm sure it was an honest mistake.
