Savoring Excellence: Discovering the Magic of Pizza from Capri! We came across this restaurant by accident, but what a lucky accident. We were looking for a place in Amsterdam where we would be able to get a good pizza on the way home from the center of Amsterdam. Fortunately, our walk from the center of town to Rembrandt Park, where our hotel was located, took us right past this terrific restaurant.
I say restaurant, as this place has more to offer than just the most delicious Neapolitan (or is it, in this case) Caprese Pizza’s, it also has the most enchanting, addictive and delectable appetizers.
And the nice thing is that they also encourage food sharing. I so like food sharing!
The bottle of Montefalco Rosso wine that we had to complement our food was a little more than I like to pay, at €38.00 or €39.00, but it was worth every penny. It had a full bodied complex flavor profile with notes of dark cherry, blackberry and plum… just perfect. That combined with the delicious appetizers and a perfect Neapolitan pizza made the entire experience one that screams for us to return and try more of the yummy items on the menu.
The bufala mozzarella Marguerita pizza was extraordinarily good. The bufala mozzarella melted into a rich, creamy layer, complementing the sweet acidity of, the what appeared to be, fresh tomato sauce. Each bite was a perfect balance of flavors, with the smoky aroma of the freshly fired crust enhancing the overall experience.
To top off this most enjoyable experience, the super helpful delightful and charming lady from Capri who took our order, and helped us make our selection, introduced us to a most tasty after dinner drink, a type of fennel limoncello.
What more can I say… you need to go there before it starts really getting busy as this pizzeria is going to become an...
Read moreFirst and foremost, The pizza (when not burned) is fantastic. This is where all good things about the place stops, good pizza and good price for it. I was in the same group of people from the previous review about the calzone ripieno being burned, me and my friend ordered it and even before it got to the table we smelled the burned air from where we were seating, I had a clear view of the pizzaiolo which lifted the calzone unnecessarily to give that extra burned crisp on top. No need for that, also no need to reply in the reviews in Italia, we should all be able to speak in English in 2024 leaving abroad. To the Pizzaiolo, and his reply: you are a liar and a coward, honestly. I was the one who came to the pizza oven to let you know, as soon as we started eating the pizza that they were burned. Your response: You shrugged your shoulders and not even mentioned a sorry or let me check that..... You looked me dead in the eyes and told me "This is how it is, it will always come out like this because I don't put pomodoro on the top otherwise the place will fill with smoke" I asked "are you serious?" and you did not even dignified yourself to apologize. Of course we ate the pizza, we had to..... Man, you even disappeared after we were done and c0wardly stayed in the back kitchen despite the fact I wanted to talk to you.
I am really sorry this is the state of Italian hospitality, you might be a good pizza maker but you make a poor excuse as a host and especially as a fellow italian. I think you just lost several customers. Good luck even tho you do not need anything, you'll meet your own demise being that you cannot even handle a simple issue like...
Read moreO' Core e Capri is a Slice of Napoli Beside Rembrandtpark 🍕✨ When we walked in last Saturday, it felt like being wrapped in a warm, Neapolitan embrace. This cozy pizzeria is a genuine treasure where Antonio, with the assistance of his dad Maurizio, pour their hearts into each pizza and dish making it a work of art 🎨. The wood oven in the corner adds a delicious smoky flavor to the pizzas. Our two Italian families, Neapolitan and Sicilian, along with the children, enjoyed the pizzas with their crispy-yet-chewy crusts, fresh mozzarella (you can have bufala too!) and toppings. It's clear that the authentic ingredients are telling a story of tradition and passion. The walls of the pizzeria are adorned with stunning images of Capri 🌅. The ambiance is not just cozy; it's like being invited into a family home, where every guest is treated like an old friend. For anyone craving a true taste of Naples without the plane ticket, make your way to "O Core e Capri." Not only will you be treated to a culinary experience that's crafted with care and love, but you'll also be served a slice of Neapolitan heritage, right here in Amsterdam. And trust me, your taste buds will thank you for the journey 🍴💖....
