Disappointing We stopped for some beer and an afternoon snack.
The service was nice and fast at first. Then, however, they messed up the ordered beer. We Ordered 2 different beers but they brought 2 of the same kind. This wasn't too bad, as we both like the served beer.
But then they messed up our food as well. At some point the bar got relatively busy and everybody that arrived later than us received their food. We wanted to ask, if our food was coming soon, but We couldn't get the waitresses attention and kept waiting. The male server seemed drunk or at leased bouncy while the female waitresses seemed overwhelmed.
When she finally came to us, she said that our order wasn't put it in the System (we ordered with the guy) and she asked if we still want it. Since she didn't even say that she was sorry for the mess up or seemed to Care at all, we asked for the Bill. When she brought the bill and we paid she finally said that she was Sorry, but still didn't really seem to care.
All in all we would not go there again. There are way better Pubs in Amsterdam with more...
Read moreAlthough the decor is very nice, for food this place is HORRIBLE! simply horrible. never in my life have I ever had such an awful service and disgusting food for that price. I ordered chicken wings, which some were still too pink and raw inside and tiny feathers in the skin. The nachos were not tortilla chips but doritos with mozzarella cheese on top warmed up on the microwave, so the fat of the cheese had melted to the botom of the plate making the doritos soggy on fat, and on top the cheese was rock hard. The nachos were disgusting basically so when I said I didnt want it because it tasted bad they took it away and said they wouldnt charge for it but when the bill came they made me pay for it and I had to argue with them for over 20 minutes and they were extremely rude. Horrible food and horrible service dont waste your time or money there are plenty of better places to eat...
Read moreI happened to be riding around on a bicycle in Amsterdam enjoying the day and I come upon this great Irish Pub. I was seated in the plaza square immediately and the staff was very kind and welcoming. I asked for some Bitterballen a traditional Dutch appetizer and a few beers. The servers were very kind, the seating comfortable under patio umbrellas, and the vibe was international cosmopolitan. The St. James Gate is located diagonally from the Escape nightclub and is a great place to meet and chat, or grab a quick bite to eat, watch your favorite soccer game, and just meet new people. Servers were British, but were able to communicate in several languages. Atmosphere was very friendly, I met some random people here and just struck up a conversation in Spanish. One was a travelling businessman from Germany, the other two were ladies from Colombia and Spain. Prices were...
