Thai Kitchen The Only One — Restaurant in Amsterdam

This review is made based on experience with a thuisbezorgd order.

I ordered on a public holiday and know that like on Sundays, restaurants can be quite busy. So I did not expect my food to be delivered in 30 minutes. However, I live very close to this restaurant! After 2 hours I called and got told it should be on the way. Another 20 minutes and another call, still no food. Meanwhile it was already after 10pm. Then I called the restaurant and the guy on the phone put his driver on loud speaker, so I could hear their conversation. I waited another 15 minutes and opened a customer support ticket to get a refund. 5 more minutes and the driver arrived.

The food was cold, very much over salted and the “extra Prawns” I ordered were literally two pieces that have obviously spend too much time in the bag. Sadly not worth the money.

I think the worst is that they could’ve called and said it’s very busy and will take a bit longer, or just tell me...

Ordered take-out and went for a Thai classic; the Pad Thai (chicken).

It was ok, but expected much better (was more like a wok-to-go quality but restaurant prices) given that the cooks were Thai.

Wasn't cooked with authentic ingredients. had broccoli and sugar snaps for example, but no egg, no bean sprouts, no spring onions, nor did I taste chili, basil or coriander or the typical umami wok taste ("wok hei")

I even baked it up a bit myself on high for a very short time, with some of the missing ingredients (not the real deal, but helped a lot).

Also the amount wasn't much. For a 1-box meal (unlike things like curry that come with 1 box of rice and 1 box of curry) it was rather meager. Not even a full box, nor a bigger box you often get in many restaurants with 1-box meals like pad-thai.

Ordered a few times with this guys over the past couple months. Look, the food isn’t bad (but a bit light on the vegetables).

I gave one star because they didn’t deliver my dessert even though I paid for it in advance (€9 value). The delivery boy couldn’t pay me back since he didn’t have enough money. When I called, the lady who answered the phone told me to hold and then disconnected me! And then didn’t take any calls... wow. So much for that.

In summary, I lost €9 with these guys! There are many good Thai places in Amsterdam. Choose somewhere else and...
