overpriced for mediocre bagel. not served warm or toasted (perhaps I should've asked if that was an option, I took it to go), bagels were basically all gone at 3pm. here's a suggestion: Bagels should be denser, darker, fuller and more like the original NYC bagel from The Village - (I presume this is the inspiration for the name), or any deli for that matter) to even slightly justify the price/quality/quantity ratio. Here's a pic of the Club bagel, which is a mess to eat (why shreds of lettuce?) it reminds me of a McChicken burger in terms of presentation. A large lettuce leaf would've been more sensible for example, think it through. For reference, if you can make your bagels like this 2nd image (more traditional/authentic recipe for the bagel itself), and then with interesting toppings, then your pricing makes more sense (and you'd have more happy customers!) Also got caught by surprise about the surcharge for more sustainable choices, oatmilk is nearly 1 euro extra (in your coffee/tea), soya milk is +65 cents vs regular milk. Oat milk should be the cheapest option! it's just oats, blended with water, a pinch of salt and sunflower oil. you guys should make it yourself and save some money. Who discourages sustainability?! Well the price in this case will.. really flip...
Read morePathetic, a pastrami bagel, not like this juicy thick Pastrami sandwich or Reuben that you know from New York - Since Bagels are in a way very New York, But NO, here you get 2 thin slices of uninspired, shiny Pastrami. It used to be such a great place, Generous and tasty, but like many Amsterdam sandwich shops and restaurants, Orders to save on the quantity and quality of ingredients come from higher up. Long story short. A disappointment they try to save money on something you already pay to much for, and instead of a juicy nice bagel you get a pathetic little slice of meet. SHAME ON THIS CHEAP AND SCARCE MENTALITY- WHAT DOES IT REALY COST YOU TO MAKE SOMETHING GOOD? 50 Cents more? ONLY IN THE NETHERLANDS THEY TRY TO DO THINGS TO YOU WITH SANDWICHES THAT I CANT WRITE DOWN HERE. Try to serve this in a self-respecting food culture - it would be thrown in your face - REMEMBER: SHRINKFLATION IS INVENTED...
Read moreVery friendly staff and great view on the lively street and the canal. The food sounds very promising, however I was a little disappointed. I tried the hummus bagel. The bagel itself was okay, not super fluffy (but to be honest I haven’t found great bagels anywhere outside of North America). The hummus tasted exactly like the 2€ hummus from Albert Heijn or Jumbo, definitely not homemade. Together with kapers that tasted like they came straight out of the tin and a tasteless tomato on top didn’t justify the price of 6,25€ for the whole thing. I think this place has great potential if the ingredients were more selected, homemade and...
