I spotted this place on my travels to the subway so thought I'd give it a go. It's not a huge place, but seemed quite cosy and pretty popular - I didn't have much difficulty getting a seat as there were some unoccupied high tables to the side, but as it was under the speaker that blared out music at a volume that negated comfortable conversation I could see why those particular tables were empty.
I got onto Wifi and confirmed they took credit card: all good. They provided an English menu and I decided to go for the dover sole, which amounted to 3 large fillets cooked in a brown butter, accompanied by a pot of chips and a side salad, which was pretty tasty and just the right amount - all washed down with an Affligem beer.
I found the service pretty engaging; staff regularly revisited the table to check up if there was anything else needed. Later on the blarey music later changed into something more pleasant, so became more tolerable as the night wore on.
Will definitely return - good meals and beer, great service and all...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise! Stumbled upon this place and had a fantastic evening meal. The friendly staff were very attentive, and there was a nice atmosphere. I had the Stew & Mouseline and it was the best stew I've ever tasted! You wouldn't think a beef stew would be anything special, but it was delicious & satisfying. The person I was with had the steak & chips. Her steak & vegetables were in a very nice (and unusual) sauce, the steak was a perfect medium rare (exactly as asked for) and the chips came with a great home-made mayonnaise. Also they were happy to do sweet potato chips/fries rather than normal chips/fries. We both gave each other bites of each other's meals, and we couldn't decide whose was better. Bar Do doesn't have as huge a menu as some other places, but it is clear that every option on the menu is a meal they are really good at cooking, they are great recipes...
Read moreLocal bar food places. I was there with my family to grab a quick and simple lunch. The heated up pre-packaged meatball was so so and the thin cut beet Broojee is expected as it should be. We are the only Asian like customers so the waiter make a really interesting/ and waited facially expression when I placed the order. I was going to order more but her disrespectful facially expression kind of turned it down. the other waiter is more friendly to help us check out the bill. But they were super rush to give us the bill not sure if this is the tradition in Holland or this is something special for this restaurant. All in all I wouldn’t recommend you visit if you have...
