Sumo — Restaurant in Arnhem

It's good to see Sumo back in action seeing as it is one of the all-you-can-eat sushi places I have fond memories off.

The food is standard and not very original compared to other similar restaurants but still tastes good. You have to order it with your own smartphone/tablet instead of a restaurant provided tablet or paper list as is standard. I'm on the fence if this is a good thing; on the plus side it's easier to order with your table mates, on the minus side it's annoying that you have to rely on your own equipment to get food at the restaurant.

Service-wise they can still improve a lot. It's not bad per se but we had a group of 10 but needed to shift the food around even though the group was divided over 3 adjoining tables each with their own ordering system (?) .

The concept of the restaurant really nice. You have 7 rounds, 5 dishes per person for the dinner. In the menu is exist many various dishes, but unfortunately without any description what they consist of. The tablet for making an orders for your table, did also a lot of connection problem, but the staff was very nice and kind. Most of the dishes that we had tasted, was tasty and nice. My recommendation, finish first the round and then order the other one, and see how much you can eat, otherwise you need to pay for the waste (if its not tasty for you, you suppose not to pay extra), and more thing, notice that you come for at least 2 hours. Sumo is een van de vier (als ik me niet vergis) all you can eat sushi restaurants in Arnhem. Ik had over Sumo nog geen recensie geschreven, maar ik ben er vroeger al wel vaker geweest. Inmiddels is de kaart en het hele interieur is wel veranderd. Het ziet er gezellig uit met alle bloesem bomen. Er is een ruime keuze aan sushi en andere gerechten. Wel vind ik het jammer dat maar een deel van de kaart plaatjes heeft. Ik vind het toch makkelijker kiezen als ik kan zien wat alles precies is. Op de tablet die we ondanks de grote groep per 4 personen kregen kon je gelukkig wel alle plaatjes van de gerechten zien. De smaak van de sushi's en de andere gerechten is prima en vergelijkbaar met de andere sushi restaurants. De service was extreem snel. Misschien ook omdat het maandag was en niet zo druk, maar zelfs dan nog. Voor mijn gevoel haddden we het eten besteld en kwam het eerste deel van de gerechten er binnen een minuut al aan. Soms misschien iets te snel want soms kregen we gerechten die we niet hadden besteld en gerechten die we wel besteld hadden kwamen niet. Ook werden de tafels nog wel eens verwisseld. Omdat het toch all you can eat is en wij het meeste wel lusten, was dat ook niet zo'n probleem. Ondanks dat het met zo'n grote groep erg chaotisch is bleef het personeel vriendelijk en geduldig. Zoals tegenwoordig wel vaker, was het in restaurant ook zo dat een deel van de bediening geen Nederlands sprak. Toen we een toetje wilde bestellen stond er dat je er maar 1 mocht bestellen per diner sessie maar dat we er al 43 hadde besteld. Dat was dus even onduidelijk. Gelukkig hoorde een serveerster dat denk ik, want die kwam naar ons toe met de uitleg dat we de toetjes gewoon los bij haar konden bestellen in plaats van met de tablet. Of dit nou onbeperkt was of niet was me onduidelijk. Ik heb in ieder geval 3 dingen besteld en daar werd niet moeilijk over gedaan.
