We visited the Cabana Beach on a Wednsday where the "Dine & Dance" takes place as we were in the mood for a nice dinner and some partying afterwards.
The setting is amazing: Oceanfront, a lot of palms and some shelter from the trade winds. This seemed like very good start.
Food: We ordered different kinds of food - received the starters quite fast and enjoyed them mostly. Then we waited for more than an hour for the entrees - they were only delivered after asking the waitor. Same goes for the wine. At one point after 15 minutes the wine was still not served. First bottle of rosé wine was warm.
Music: There were some live acts during dinner. Unfortunately it was so loud that it was no longer possible to talk to each other. With the second live act the groove was pretty good, people started dancing and slowly a party emerged. Until the DJ came into action. He seemd not to have any concept or take into account what the crowd was feeling. As the night evolved, we just sat on the beach and asked ourselves what on earth the DJ was thinking. The crowd got younger, most of them were between 20 and 25.
Oh, and the Mojito bar didn't have any Mojitos.
All in all - amazing location, perfectly ruined by bad service...
Read moreThis is a review of the cabana beach club, worth mentioning as some of the reviews here are not relating to the beach club. Now, have visited here for the last 9 years and have noticed a terrible decline in service and certainly a sharp rise in prices. The double beach beds are now charged at 32 dollars and they are swift to collect the due. However from then on everything goes incredibly slow and the bla bla from their own website "great service and everyone is welcome" is so not true. The staff is mostly busy chatting to each other and walking through the tightly packed lines of beach beds without taking notice of customers. Used to enjoy coming here, but today they have really impressed me with staff ignorance and overpriced products. A simple mojito in a plastic cup comes after 1 hour waiting time for the chilling price of 14 dollars! It used to be good here but those days seem to have gone. Sorry, I consider this bad management. You could get a great turnover here if you told your staff to actually try and attend to customers and sell then you could also afford to drop the prices to a...

While staying at Kontiki, Cabana Beach became my safe haven. The staff varied based on where you were. I was fond of the beach club area, didn’t like the breakfast platter section & the staff at cabana nights was very attentive! was a bit rocky at first, but once I made eye contact - they came over & service became quicker. Some items I ordered to help inform your stay:
Breakfast Platter: 4/5 very filling! But just a one time thing. The staff was VERY spotty. Food was good, but not worth it to repeat.
Cabana Nights 5/5 - fun experience; the best service I received all trip. Very attentive and helped a ton. They were working hard for the tips.
Beach Club 6/5 - admittedly, I stayed in the luxury section and I had the whole area to myself most of the times
Mojito: 4/5 good Mango mojito: 5/5 banger Pina Colada: 3/5 not good Fries: 5/5 surprisingly good & great portion Carpaccio Wrap: 4/5 meh experience; not worth it. Makes you want...
