We had a dinner with a group of people from different countries. I think it was a disaster.
Let's start from hygiene. Forks on the table. Forks on the table where I could see the fingerprints of people that had dinner (or lunch) before us. Please clean the freaking table before putting forks and knifes on it. We had "shared dishes", with no clean fork or knife to cut and share it. I have allergies, the waitress could not even tell what was inside our dishes: basically I could not eat anything because all the food could have been contaminated by other people's forks. You know, that's why usually shared dishes come with their own forks and knives: hygiene and contamination of foods and flavours. The waitress put her finger inside the dishes, several times (that was REALLY disgusting).
What to say about the dishes? We had several tastes of different things. We started with raw fish on top of some sauce decorated with melon. Well, to put it simply: the fish only tasted of salt: from a technical standpoint, the realization is very bad. The melon, that I think was put there to mitigate the salty flavour of the fish, simply didn't mesh up well with the rest of the dish (no one ate it in fact). The sauce wasn't bad. Then we had a pate of duck liver, Apple syrup and some fruit jam that the waitress could not explain. I think that the liver was not bad, but again it simply was not good with the rest of the dish. Afterwards there were some rosti with hollandaise sauce. I think they were the only good food I had on this dinner. They also brought some French asparagus, but they only tasted of burned butter, nothing else. They were really awful to me. There were also some fish with avocado, shrimps, some hollandaise sauce, some other fatty sauce. Basically it tasted of fat on top of fat on top of something more fat. Then something that they called "steak" arrived, with some peppers (not chili). The meat wasn't bad, but it was way too cooked on the outside and raw (not rare, just raw) on the inside. Peppers were ok. In the end we got some carrots with taleggio cheese. Being Italian, I can tell that was either not taleggio or very bad quality taleggio. Sweets were strange. My colleague's pannacotta was "not good" in his own words. Even the old lady from the UK admitted it wasn't good. I asked for a taste of cheese from the menu. They brought it, and after 10 minutes I realized it was full of stuff I'm allergic to, the waitress came back and told me "oh, maybe you are allergic to this dish". I really have to thank you for trying to kill me. Luckily enough I realized it and didn't touch anything except for the cheese itself. I forgot to mention that they brought some sort of bread with nuts and grapes and it was frozen. Maybe they don't have a microwave, I don't know what to think.
I really don't know what to say more, I think that the whole construction of dishes was completely wrong (they can be summarized in "something really fat on something else more fat with some sauce that is even more fatty-er", and basically they taste of.. fat), I think that also some dishes were technically poor, like the beef and the salted fish.
I would not recommend this...
Read moreAtmosphere is nice, but that’s the only thing left. We came here post pandemic and we returned to this place because to my memory the food and all was great. I was looking forward to. Unfortunately nothing is left from those times or maybe because we were seated in the second floor. In either way I won’t try it again! First it started light: we asked 5 times for the wine and it was served when we were already finishing the second meal. The image of the waiter stretching from one side of the wide table to the end of the other side trying to serve the wine and missing the glass but not stopping rather keep pouring the wine on the table will stay in my memory. Then I approached her the glass and she poured the bottom of the bottle and came back with the new bottle opened it elsewhere behind us and not even tasting it, just served on top of the old wine and left. Half of the table was full of wine. Never mind I could laugh it off after all it’s reminding me of the student cafe’s when I was a student. However the prices are rather of a good quality restaurant so the service doesn’t match. Then the meals. Starter lacked salt. Like it didn’t exist so the food didn’t have taste. Second dish, the meat was good but the sauce was too salty. Like I could taste only the salt. When I said that to the waiter, he just lagged it off. Not...
Read moreI used to love this place… last time I visited was a year ago so I’m not sure what happened in between but the service got terrible. On our last visit we got kicked out because they had a party scheduled at 21:00. This wasn’t communicated at the time of reservation nor when we got to the restaurant. They also didn’t even bother to speed up the service so we could finish before that. We arrived at 19:00 and ordered a 3 course menu (so they knew what to prepare from the start). Everything took very long to get to us. It took them around 45mins to bring us the main course, and while we were waiting for it we were asked to pick our desserts because the kitchen was closing soon, this wasn’t an issue at first to be honest. We ended up getting the main dish around 8:45 and we weren’t even finished with it when we got asked to move to another table because they needed to start preparing the venue for the party. We moved, and while we were having dessert they started moving all tables and chairs very loudly. Add to this that we had to remind them to bring us glasses and cutlery every single time. In summary, we constantly felt that people were very eager to take our money and kick us out… terrible experience. I don’t think I’ll...
