Restaurant Zoet & Zout Eindhoven — Restaurant in Eindhoven

We've been coming here for years now, The why is a mystery....... For the cappuccino? No, it comes from the machine. For the pastry? No again, unfortunately the pastries aren't even fresh every day. For the kitchen than? Neither, nothing special. Although in the past the salmon quiche was fine and you got a generous salad with lots of smoked salmon. Unfortunately it's quite downgraded. Is it because of the service staff? Well, yes and no ...... The service consists of many young people. And in all those years I can only remember friendly service, so that is definitely an added value here. Then why the no? Because it is regularly teeming with staff and they are sometimes more busy having a good time together than being "catering tigers". (Sorry Anvers in Tilburg for borrowing that term) For me, "Zoet & Zout" is really an example of "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts". Nothing really stands out but we keep coming back. Of course, the location, in the middle of the city, also plays...

We arrived on Thursday evening for dinner at 18:30pm, ordered four main dishes for 4 people (2 adults+ 2 kids) and waited there for 50 minutes. The table close to us got food served and they finished, we were still waiting. The waiter ignored /forgot us until another lady came and asked us if everything is fine. Kids were very hungry and started to cry and we were told our orders were not being sent to the kitchen(!) after almost 1 hour. The waiter came and re-checked with us what we have ordered and promised us that they will make our food within 10 minutes. We were very disappointed to choose this restaurant to start our summer vacation at that moment with two unhappy and hungry kids. We decide to leave and choose somewhere else with better service. It was also not busy at restaurant at all. Very bad service, we don't...

Conversation of 10 minutes ago: "One Americano, please." "coffee?" "No, an Americano." "You're totally right, sir!" a few moments later the waitress serves me regular coffee. I told her I ordered an Americano, she said she didn't have those. I told her why wouldn't you have espresso with water. She replied: Well, if that's your idea of Americano, I'll go get it then! I said if you don't know what an Americano is then why should I be here? She was very rude, I made my order very clear and now I totally don't want be there anymore, you can imagine a relaxing coffee wasn't possible anymore, so I left. Somehow this place can turn a relaxing morning coffee into a complete dramatic spectacle and I'm sure all the customers understood what was going on. No coffee...
