If you are looking for an awesome chinese restaurant in Eindhoven Centraal, New Oriental Food City is the place, it is located left at the main entrance of Heuvel Mall.
Drop by early if you want to enjoy their awesome dim sum because this place will be full before you know it 😜 not only chinese, local dutch like this place as well.
They have a huge options of dishes, from dim sum, various type of fried noodles, noodles with soep, rice dishes, and you can even order several dishes, serve with rice.
I only being there twice, dishes that I would recommend is Rice sheet with prawns in bean skin, Steamed shrimp dumpling, Steamed pork dumpling, Wan tan soep, Ho fan with rib and tausi sauce, Gebraden soft noodles and if you don't want to have such heavy dish, their Porridge is also nice.
Something to avoid, Fried soft noodles, it taste good, don't get me wrong, just that a huge plate of noodles with few pieces of mushrooms, their wan tan is good but the wan tan noodles have very strong alkaline smell, doesn't matter it serve dry or with soep, so order the wan tan soep will be a better choice.
If you want to try their Rice with meat in hot pot, make sure you go early as it require 1 hour to prepare, we didn't manage to try it yet, mat be...
Read moreBeen several times now. You go up the stairs and enter a large room with many tables. It is usually full and it has a pleasant atmosphere. The atmosphere should not come from the decoration. Service is always very friendly. If you want to order rice pancakes don't be surprised if they say they don't have it anymore. Even though you keep seeing them being served left and right to Chinese speaking guests. Several times we experienced this. The food, lots of dim sim, some small dishes and the large menu. Overall really satisfied with the meat dishes when eating in, Cha Sieuw For Nam, soya chicken and duck. The dim sim is also really good. Only the radish cake had soaked up oil. So it was inedible this time. The first round of Chinese pancakes were delicious. The second round much less, they have been standing somewhere for too long so that they were no longer crispy and the condensation water hit the pancakes back, making them tough. All in all a great address if you don't want to drive all the way to the Zeedijk in Amsterdam. Take away, we did it twice and we keep it that way. Chia Siu both...
Read moreWith my pro "homemade food" mindset I usually do not bother spending money on dining outside as do not consider it price worthy in most restaurants in Eindhoven.(no offense)
However due to my wife ans couple trips to Hongkong I have developed love for Chinise/asian cousin.
Thus took a chance to visit this restaurant instead of usual KFC nearby... And did not regret every cent as I spend just around 26EUR for two person for very good and exotic food that made me very happy instead of usual 18EUR in KFC eating cheap chicken with coke that most of the times brought me stomach pain.
P.S. Also laugh about couple other comments that in some cases might have been just cultural difference and misunderstanding. "Like the eye surgery" I bet waiters from hard day of work showed some natural curiosity that I really admire in people.
But it seems to be more rare due to all the snowflakes and egocentric society that for some reason is advancing in modern world while elimination sincerity emphaty and other good things that used to be key for success and understanding each...
