We had a nice weekend in the NH collection Eindhoven in may 2021. We stayed in the suite, which was clean, comfortable and welcoming. The staff is very good, happy to assist and very friendly. However, my feeling is that the hotel is business oriented, and not the most suitable choice for a romantic weekend. Thus, while I can't recommend it to couples, it is a very solid and welcoming business hotel in an excellent location. However, per our experience - we have a few points of feedback: Upon booking the hotel, we were offered two kinds of in-room dining menus; That was 2 or 3 weeks before the actual trip. However, when arriving - apparently there was only one menu available, which is the more limited and less attractive. Of that limited menu - we ordered the pumpkin soup which was very-very nice, a burger which was dry, dense and overall not something you would accept at McDonalds, let alone a 5 start hotel. The Pizza, unfortunately, was even worse - dry and served half cold. For desert we shared dame-blanche which was a bit tasteless but it was actually not a bad dessert (because it wasn't heavily sweet). At this point we were a bit upset that the hotel didn't contact us in advance to notify about removing the other options (VANE:veggie and VANE:smoke) which seemed much more promising. We ordered a suite for the purpose of the bathtub. Unfortunately, while still usable, it was damaged and leaky. The hotel despite best efforts, could not offer us an alternative room - which truth-be-told was indeed un-needed because the tub was indeed useable. However as a compensation we received a bowl of bitterballen which was a nice and welcomed treat, however from a 5 star hotel one would expect more in maintenance and quality of rooms, as well as the possibility to swap rooms, for our own good feeling, given the price. Breakfast arrived on time and it was rich, but it was noticeable that it was prepared a long time before serving (perhaps a day before): muesli was soggy and the (tiny) salad was dry and sad, scrambled eggs served cold. The fruits, juices, breads and cold meats and cheese - were all very nice. smoked salmon was excellent. Coffee was good and hot.
While we probably won't return, that is not because the hotel is by any means bad; - Overall our experience was positive, but without any 'wow' factor - especially over the food served which was among the worse dinners we had in Eindhoven; Eindhoven is rich in excellent restaurants, and we both expected much more from a luxurious hotel that hosts a good restaurant (VANE).
While we can recommend it happily to business travellers, and people looking only for clean rooms in central location - We would recommend to avoid the hotel for individuals, couples and families who wish some romance and decent...
Read more30-Second Verdict: Personally, I believe this hotel is overrated. I believe they rated themselves at 5*, but I’m sorry, but this is just too misleading. One 4* hotel I’ve been to elsewhere had: butler service, spas, swimming pools, complimentary car parks etc. So if a 5-starred hotel can’t do that as a minimum (like this one), then that’s appalling. Customer Service: The receptionists were very friendly and were happy to meet any requirements. (Especially the two ladies at the check-in desks). They’ll always smile and greet you when you get exit or enter the hotel. They also give great tips on what to visit. 🙂 Meanwhile, the VANE team were appalling. The beef was completely pink and we were not given a discount and they wouldn’t recook it. It wasn’t even rare yet! The waiter was too ‘hushy’, and he ran off before we could finish our request, which slowed the ordering process down by quite a while. Room: The cleanliness of the room was very high, but the cleaners forgot some very basic stuff, like emptying out the bins and replacing the amenities in the bathroom. I was staying in one of the most prestigious rooms, “The Suite”. I was assuming it would be like an apartment, but no. It was worse than a UK Premier Inn (2* lower than this hotel). Also, the TV is just very complex to switch on, so please fix this issue. However, the bed was very comfortable and I got 10 hours of sleep. Breakfast: The waiters at breakfast were better than the VANE Skybar staff, they clear your plates very often, they smile at you, and go the extra mile to make you satisfied. The tables have excellent views over the city centre and the neighbourhood. I enjoyed looking at the trains passing by every so often. However, the variety was very little, and they really need proper sausages that taste good, and hash browns. Location: The location is very good, plopped in the middle of the city centre and is very easy to spot from the Eindhoven rail station (if you’re observant). Wi-Fi: I didn’t pay the extra money for the premium Wi-Fi, and I’m surprised at how fast it actually was, so keep it up! Facilities: There is a state of the art gym, that is fully stocked every so often, which I enjoyed to spend time at. There is also a baggage storage area and meeting rooms, so if you have a conference, this place could have potential if you don’t mind about how good the hotel is. However, the big let down is the fact that there isn’t a swimming pool or a car park. Thank you for reading...
Read more0! Zero ! Very disappointed! I asked 3 months before my arrival to be able to leave on Sunday around 3 p.m. in the afternoon rather than at 12.00 because I am participating in the Eindhoven marathon which starts at 10.00 and it is not even possible for the fastest runner in the world to finish in less than 2 hours! The hotel initially informed me that they cannot accommodate my request at that time but to request it upon my arrival. A week before my arrival, I called again with the same request and I was given the same answer. When I arrived on Saturday October 6, I made the same request again at the reception and I was told that I must request the next day, that is to say the day of my departure at 08.00 in the morning while the marathon starts at 10.00 leaving me stressing out how to find a solution to take a shower after the marathon! And at my insistence, I am told that it is better whereas I consider that it will not be possible and to leave in the morning because they are full! The receptionists who work this Saturday October 7, 2023 from my arrival at 4:00 p.m. until their last response at 9:00 p.m. are totally unfriendly. The notion of quality of service is completely unknown by this staff even though on the site it is mentioned the lazy check out from Sunday until 3 p.m. without any restriction! I'm in room 718 and I'm waiting for a reaction from the hotel tomorrow. It is unacceptable to let guests leave in sweat after a marathon when the whole city lives to the rhythm of the marathon and the route passes in front of the hotel and a late departure must be anticipated. I guess I'm not their only marathon runner in the hotel! This is the most lousy and catastrophic situation of all the hotels I have frequented while I am in my 25th marathon in the world, all hotels without exception have always accepted...
