Feestcafe Shooters — Restaurant in Groningen

Worst security I’ve ever seen in a club, especially the big tall female guard. I’m a girl, I came here twice (not even drunk) and BOTH times this guard treated me horribly for no reason at all. First time she accused me of pushing people while I was just trying to leave in a packed crowd of tall drunk Dutch guys. Me, a girl, being blamed for “pushing”? Ridiculous. Second time, I was the ONLY one in my group stopped at the entrance. She physically blocked me, got in my face and yelled “HELLO!?” in this super aggressive, intimidating way. For what? Nothing. That’s not keeping the place safe, that’s harassment. Security should be there to throw out drunk, aggressive people and make sure everyone else has a good night, not scare young women and ruin the entire vibe. This guard doesn’t make the place safer, she IS the reason people feel unsafe and don’t want to come back. Racism. Tonight I went there with 2 friends and we were discriminated based on ethnic origin. I’m a post graduate student and scientist in The Netherlands, highly educated but not Dutch. The guards checked our ID and manifested that they only allowed permanent residents or citizens in the bar, I showed my residence permit which states that I’m a highly qualified researcher, but it wasn’t enough only because I’m an expat. I have never experienced racism in this country before, it’s a shame that it happened in a place where people should feel welcome. I’m very sure this is completely irregular and that my rights were violated, but of course I wasn’t going to make an scandal and be more humiliated. k weet niet waar ik moet beginnen, maar mijn ervaring bij Shooters was ronduit verschrikkelijk Ik ben nog nooit in mijn leven zó respectloos behandeld door personeel in een uitgaansgelegenheid.

Ik kwam binnen en vroeg simpelweg om een glas water. Blijkbaar was dat al een probleem, ondanks dat ik aangaf dat ik gerust een cola wilde kopen als dat nodig was. Maar in plaats van enig begrip of een normale reactie, werd ik op de meest onbeschofte manier de club uit gestuurd. Niet op een nette manier, niet met een simpel “sorry, dat kan niet,” maar met de woorden dat ik moest “optyfen.”

Alsof dat nog niet erg genoeg was, ging het personeel buiten gewoon door met hun wangedrag. Ik werd uitgescholden voor dingen die nergens op sloegen, die niets te maken hadden met de situatie. Ik stond daar, totaal overdonderd, terwijl een volwassen man, die daar nota bene werkt, niets beters wist te doen dan mij belachelijk maken. Tot het punt dat ik letterlijk in tranen uitbarstte. En waarvoor? Omdat ik een glas water wilde?

Dit ging allang niet meer over een drankje. Dit ging over respect, fatsoen en menselijkheid – en het personeel van Shooters heeft geen van die dingen laten zien. Hoe kan een club iemand in dienst hebben die zo met gasten omgaat? Dit is niet zomaar slechte service, dit is pure minachting. Iemand die op deze manier met mensen omgaat, zou nooit in de horeca mogen werken.

Ik hoop oprecht dat de manager van Shooters dit leest en verantwoordelijkheid neemt, want niemand zou zich zo behandeld moeten voelen in een club. Ik zal hier nooit meer een stap binnenzetten, en ik raad iedereen aan om deze plek...
