Het Stadsbrouwhuis — Restaurant in Leiden

Very nice cosy place - agree with former reviews that Stadsbrouwhuis is quite expensive. Lot of beers from draft but they're all served in their own 250ml glass, also Belgian classics like St. Bernardus which they charge €6,- per 250 ml. So this is all about making money (the fish and chips €14,- with just a few leaves iceberg lettuce made me hungry after 2 hours) and also does not respect the Belgian tradition. Lovely bar with seating inside and out, able to sit right on the canal and pass the time sampling the massive beer selection. It's really handy that they are verified on untappd so you can easily peruse what they have in stock both on draft and in the fridge. They even brew some of their own beer on site which is a cool element. The craft beer scene in Netherlands generally is not up to the same quality as some other nations, but here has as big a choice as most places and worth a visit if you are in Leiden...

Probably the best option for a nice craft beer experience in Leiden (apart from beer shops). I really enjoy the interior, very easy yet classy, whilst not losing a classic pub charme. The selection of beers is usually really interesting, with a nice mix of Dutch and international beers. Their own (brewpub) beers are usually not really my thing, then again I've only had some.
