Sijgje Leiden — Restaurant in Leiden

Amazing place in Leiden! Last night we had dinner here. They serve a 3 course menu (only 15.95 euro) every night where you get to choose from any of the starters, mains and desserts on the menu.all the food we had was of excellent quality and the portions are more than enough! For starters we had the 'garnaalkroketten' (served with a delicious mustard mayonaise) and the carpaccio with parmesaan cheese. Both these dishes were great! Next up was the mains. All mains are served with chips and salad. We had the ribs - tender, and perfectly basted. We also had the pork filler with mushroom sauce- I was pleasantly surprised with the richness of the flavours and the juicy, perfectly prepared meat. The warm apple pie and cheese cake for dessert was the perfect finish to our very memorable meal.

Service was friendly and the place had a very cozy and home like atmosphere! Dishes are beautifully presented and the quality is great!

Excellent...

Food and drink serves the purpose of casual dining excellently (Sijgje burger and fish special). Not too complex, not too simple. I have had burgers in other places that were downright embarrassingly beginner-grade at similar price point. But I greatly enjoyed the Sijgje burger. Tasty and the portion was just right to relish the dish as a proper meal. That alone made my evening.

Honestly refreshing to see a restaurant focus on delivering that experience and not trying to push they're more that. The space was not too crowded but not too vacant either. Good surroundings and good acoustics. Good for small group conversation (~4, 5 max persons).

Surf and turf was easily the best steak I’ve ever had. Rare as hens teeth, as red inside as the Leiden city flag. It comes with smoked salmon on top which is an absolute game changer. Definitely top 3 meals of my life. The servers were excellent. We ordered Stroopwaffel without any ice cream as we’re lactose intolerant. Without us even asking, the server went out of her way to find a dairy-free alternative. She got us every flavour of sorbet they had. Don’t even get me started on the drinks… their house made lemonade is unreal. Their fruity mojitos, unreal. The port tasting option for desert, unreal.
