Rodos Greek Restaurant offers a dining experience that's both charming and inviting, with its warm exterior and contemporary wood decor creating a cozy ambiance, despite the slightly cramped space and uneven rugs. Upon arrival, the staff's superb welcome sets a tone of exemplary service that continues throughout the meal, characterized by attentiveness, friendliness, and a touch of humor, ensuring diners feel both valued and relaxed.
The menu at Rodos caters to a wide range of tastes and dietary needs, presenting a selection that promises something for every Greek cuisine aficionado. The calamari, notable for its presentation and flavor, stands out as a highlight among the starters. However, when it comes to the main courses, the restaurant seems to take a safer path with seasoning and spices, which might not fully satisfy those in search of the bold flavors traditionally associated with Greek cooking. Despite this, the generous portion sizes across the board, from starters to desserts, are commendable.
The desserts truly shine at Rodos, with offerings like banana pie, baklava, and chocolate mousse eliciting enthusiasm and delight, making for a memorable end to the meal.
The service, particularly noteworthy for its grace and generosity—evident in gestures like offering a sample of Pine Wine to the table—further enhances the dining experience.
For those with a preference for milder flavors or anyone looking to enjoy a leisurely meal in a welcoming setting, Rodos is a fitting choice. The pricing aligns with Leiden's dining scene, offering value for the experience provided. However, for diners seeking the authentic zest of Greek cuisine, it may be beneficial to communicate your preferences to the accommodating staff or explore the menu for options that align closer to traditional tastes.
Rodos offers a mixed bag of experiences: exceptional service and desserts, a cozy ambiance, but a cautious approach to traditional Greek flavors in its main courses. It stands as a charming option in Leiden for those looking to enjoy a night out, with certain dishes leaving room for a more adventurous culinary...
Read moreI see a lot of good reviews says the food is good. Well, I would say it’s ok. The staff is nice indeed. However 11.5 per person for an entrée is expensive: one table spoon of tzatziki, 2 olive, 2 tiny cubes of feta cheese, 2 slices of grilled halloumi, 2 zucchini balls, some pita and bread. Then for dinner the menu is different, we took the greek pasta with the veggie oven balls. The veggie balls were dry the pasta a little overcooked. Also in the menu there is a mention, greek salad for every main dish. This was a joke, such small salad: 4 slices of tomatoes and cucumbers, one olive, sprinkle of cheese, onions and seasonings, but it was not mixed, tasteless. To top everything there were 2 groups of people sooo loud which made the place even more “nice”… the bill was 50.50 for entrées, one main dish and a bottle of water. all in all I do not...
Read moreThe restaurant is in a great location, 6 minutes from the central station and near the water. The prices are appropriate for the value received. The staff is extremely friendly. Much more than what we are used to in the Netherlands (me and my gf are both expats). My gf jokingly said, that we are experiencing Greek customer service and not Dutch customer service. The food was very tasty and the portions were the perfect size. The waiter even explained what we were eating even though only Michelin restaurants usually do that. Although I am not sure why as this is such a small and easy thing to do which makes the experience so much better. The staff asked multiple times whether everything was according to our preferences. The interior is kept simple which I enjoyed. Loved it, would definitely recommend and quite possibly go again...
