Awful taste, overpriced food, a no go place. The moment I sat down and read the menu, I already wanted to leave but I thought to myself how wrong could this possibly be? But what happened proved my guts not wrong. The pho tastes like instant noodles which you could shop from supermarkets. The soup base doesn’t taste like broth being cooked with original ingredients but more like chemical compounds. The noodles are nothing like pho noodles, they are thick, wide and not very pleasant taste. they charge you 19.50 euros with very small portions. I got nausea afterwards because everything was just like bad quality instant noodles. Nothing like the Vietnamese food I had before. The Vietnamese iced coffee is served with powdered coffee with unblended thick syrup on the bottom. I had to really stir the syrup but there was no use. It was all stuck on the bottom and I have never had such terrible Vietnamese iced coffee. I gave my feedback to the waiter who said they didn’t blend the drink because customers would prefer to DIY it? Do you consider offering an unblended beverage DIY? I bet their ‘customers’ are really playful with food. The waitress looks like something has long bothered her. In a word, if this restaurant is open in other locations with more Vietnamese restaurant competitors, it will...
Read morevery, VERY good spring rolls...cold in rice paper and made 3 ways...vegetarian, chicken(kip) and shrimp(garnalen). each, with an exquisite balance of mint, vegetables(and filling of your choice) and a delicious hoi sin sauce... if i were to judge by the spring rolls(and i would gladly chance it, myself) i'm betting that the rest of the food on the menu is very good, as well...there are curries and sandwiches and other items.... and excellent place if you want a quick, inexpensive bite(or two) OR for a sit down meal. the place is tucked away on the street leaving central station, in easy walking distance... the service is friendly and, though the place is a bit small, it didn't feel cramped in any way. and one might enjoy watching the river of people flow by on steenstraat, to and from the station...
Had to come back to write this...they've been away for a few weeks...and today the spring rolls were better than ever before this, in my experience....i think they added juuuuust a touch of those crispy, friend onions...just when i thought they couldn't get any...
Read moreThe food was ok but not worth the price and economized by leaving aromatics like lemongrass out. But what really disappointed me most was the coffee. They charge €4.50 for Vietnamese coffee but it is instantly obvious to anyone who has tried the real thing that they are using instant powder coffee. What’s worse is that they have a large canvas of the coffee being made properly on the wall and have gone to the trouble of displaying bags of ground coffee near the tills to give the impression that they make it authentically. But sure enough discretely below that is the instant powder that they are actually using. It all adds up to a depressing experience of being deceived, let down, and irritated at having a part of my culture I am proud of being misrepresented to others who don’t...
